I,v owned worked and bred whippets for 30 years and have found them no worse than lurchers with cuts breaks ect I have mine in at the moment but have kept them out in the past in a 6x3 shed fully lined with a lamp on a thermostat. When they are working running on the lamp they dont get time to stand and shiver.i own broken coated lurchers that get cold standing around ferreting its not just whippets that suffer from the cold keep them moving and they will be fine.I keep mine in at the moment because of unwanted attention I have had people poking round the yard a few times and better safe than

Any one that runs a dog on rabbits to the point it stops is someone who knows very little of their dog,s and even less about dogs in general .I think it,s a fair assumption that the better dog men of this world are more successful and have less failure in their dogs than the rest.Anyone running a dog to a stand still is at best a prat they would be better off buying a gun.Is it just luck that some always have dogs that perform well in the field ,never bite, fight, jack or run off and just bad luck that some seem to get dog after dog that has one problem or other.I am all for pushing dogs to ge

If you work your dog on land near roads being able to call it off mid run is something you have to work towards it does take a bit of time and effort but is no more difficult than stock breaking of all the dogs that I"v been able to call off none have ever jacked or pulled at a hedge and all of them have had their lives saved by calling of roads .

I dont think I have ever seen a whippet that could"nt catch a rabbit I"v owned whippets for more than thirty and bred for twenty in that time I have only bred 3 or 4 that I thought were litter wast at least 2 out of every litter were capable of takeing hare regularly the rest were good on rabbits with only 1 or 2 out of about 20 being poor and the same percentage being something a bit special.I think most working Whippet litters would be about the same. They throw pretty regular pups more so than most lurcher lines with coursing lines probably being the exeption as I think that dog bred for gen
