goslht, we had several good runs at the end of our season that were in the 7-9 miles mark but we have run over 12 at times, generally coyote's will only run as hard as there pushed, so on a poor scenting day they'll run more circular but if its a good scenting day they fly -
Yeah thats right , sweep it under the carpet !!! lets not talk about it. It is FACT that John has been arrested its not hearsay or chinese whispers. yes I agree that we shouldn't speculate, but this is part of what terriersmen and hunters have to put up with every day and we should be very aware about what going on. With an election looming , the Anti's are desperate to get a case to stick before hopefully the Conservatives get in and try to repeal it, everybody should be treading very carefully in the next couple of months.

Just heard that John( Pennine Huntsman) has been arrested and is in custody at the moment , let hope he has a good Lawyer and doesn't get stitched up

Oh Shit! that doesn't sound good, although if there's a keeper there, and gamebirds around there entitled to dig, so might not all be bad

here are a few of our Welsh crosses all these woolies go back to Curre Legend

The trouble is mate you've got a pack hound , there not really a house dog, sit, stay, rollover kinda dog, they hunt things and stop when when they either loose it( ie lost the line and are unable to recover it), kill it, or put it to ground, i just don't think a Kerry Beagle is what you need , and i think you realize that now. I 'm sure there's some lads out there that have a gun pack that he would suit down to the ground, wether they have a terrier to trade might be another thing. fencehopper you're an idiot!!! its idiots like you that give genuine dog men a bad name, turf the dog out an

Not to disrespect any of the other lads that have posted , but bone infections are a very serious condition, i nearly lost a very good hunter (horse) 2 years ago from a puncture wound in his leg, we used a direct line feed into the bone with a drug called Excenel (ceftiofur hydrochloride) this as well as a drug called Borgal (Sulfadoxine; Trimethoprim) injected IV , it was very touch and go, but he did pull through, so if i were you and couldn't get a hold of some hardcore drugs then i would give in and go to the vets

We use it on the hounds and have never had any adverse reactions, I worm more frequently here in Canada because there are so many more beasties out here, heartworm for one, which is quite nasty. I try to change brands of wormers every so often so that the worms don't build up and immunity so one quarter i use Strongid T, then the next time I use Pannacur. I also use Ivermec (Ivermectin) 3 times a year, this is good for heartworm's and just about everything that the other two don't kill, it also stops them from scratching , but be careful with the dosing 1ml per 100lbs It also is not Licen

Could be just a bit of coccidiosis, a bit of Penicillin should clear it up , they pick it up from dirty water, thats not saying your not giving it clean water, but pups drink out of anything lying on the ground ie upturned flower in the garden or something, if its not that then it could be something far worse , has it had its jabs ? if its had its jabs then its almost certainly coccidiosis . keep us posted

Thats a good looking dog you have Weasle , i do find it sad though that the only REAL working stuff is this side of the Atlantic, when you consider its an English breed
-
I Agree with everything thats been written they are brave, brainless, however you want to look at it !!! the main thing i would worry about is finding one that was small enough, i've seen lots that would struggle to get on , unless your digging Bears

I went out with them when i used to be at the East Devon, must be 15 year ago , mighty fine pack!! they could hunt a good long legged short eared buck ahem !!!!!! I mean hare as well as any pack

Hey DF, If your dog is sensitive to penicillin try using cotrimoxazole, a combination of sulphamethoxazole (a sulphur compound) and trimethoprim (which is not sulphur based). it works on both Gram negative and gram positive infections, it might work for your dog , also if he's chewed up and exhausted instead of giving him water straight off give him some water soluble Electrolytes, and also have water available once you've given him the Electrolytes( the minerals and salts make them thirsty ) this will dramatically improve his recovery, the farm shops sell Electrolytes its used for calves scou

I don't know if you have much in the way of working Airedale's back home, i know over here(Canada/ USA) there are several lads that run them on Bear and wild boar and they're pretty game, there's a fella out in Michigan i think that has some Airedale x lurchers that he runs Coyote's with and there supposed to be great !!! , it there was a good working one close enough to me i'd throw one over my whippet, you'd get some pretty savage little fcukers !!! good for Coons

The backs feeling better today , i just need a couple of young lads to do the leg work, then when its time to break through It is a Coonhound, only just got her , she's been a pet so we'll see if she can do the job she was bred to do, but she's still only 11 months so i'll give her a bit of time

DnN, we use the telemetry collars (wildlife materials) they last about a 10,000 hours and are good in our country for about 5 miles or so , i know a couple of lads that have used the Garmin collars and they like them and are much more accurate, but the battery life is only good for something like 12 hrs , which is fine unless you lose a hound and its out overnight, after that its not much good to you, i have thought about them for our hounds because the price has dropped and they now have receivers that take 30 collars, before the max was 10 , but the battery life thing bothers me, its very v -
There speaks the voice of experience. I used to write in the EDRD,coursing articles mostly, but with the ban, that window is closed, unless someone does an "all our yesterday's "kind of thing. The ban has brought severe limitations on what can be put down on paper and published. How often can you make" took Spot up on the dales and caught 8 rabbits" sound interesting? Regular contributors have to come up with different articles week after week ,it ain't as easy as some seem to think. Some one said they enjoyed the article about famous coursing dogs,so did I , but there are flies in the oi
