  1. i bet thats great fun, be like ratting but in a bigger way, lol, a import would be fine ! They do more damage than a fox , because they're so dextrous they grab a hold of your dog with their claws, the average weight would be 15-20 LBS, I know around here where there's a lot of Maize grown the coons feed till their fit to burst and can get up to 30LBS + being a "blow in" to Canada i've worked lots of foxes back home in the UK , Coons are far nastier
  2. Edd, if your willing to do the leg work, i can write some articles up from this side of the pond and throw some pictures in, i wrote an article for CMW about 10 years ago about hunting in in Rome, I think i got 40 quid for it !!! wooohoo !!!
  3. Knocking Box !!!! i use a probing bar and my ear !!!!
  4. Thanks Lads for the kind words, they're all suffering a bit today the brindle lurcher more so , he was trying to draw it because of the frozen ground and my Graft being bolloxed i couldn't make a big enough hole to get in to coon, but considering where the coon was under a tree root i don't think i could of gotten him if i had been able to make more room, every time the dog got a hold the coon would brace himself so that the dog couldn't pull him out, not an easy spot at all !!
  5. Good man right on the money , although i'd love to know why they call them red bellied woodpeckers when its their head thats red,i don't see ant red on their belly !!1
  6. Is that a Plott in the foreground ? looks a nice one , i'm guessing these were taken in barns mainly , its an impressive haul , well done , wished i'd known you were selling some running dogs , i'm in need of one or two gooduns
  7. This little fella was at my feeder this afternoon, how many of you know what he is ...... thats right get looking through your ornithology books i'll give you a hint he's a woodpecker of some sort
  8. Great.... who do i have the ticket made out for my fcuked up back can't take much more
  9. I went out this afternoon for a mooch and had a good couple of hours dig on a coon, it was a difficult spot, the coon got in behind a 2ft tree root, to boot the the ground was frozen solid and i broke my spade !!!! it was quite dark by the time i was finished , god i wish i had some young lad around here that was keen on digging !! my back isn't what it used to be !! anyway here's some pics
  10. You've got some nice dogs, and in great condition !!! lovely to see , also i'm guessing you've got a decent camera to get the shots you've gotten
  11. these are a litter i bred last year , out of a whippet bitch by a Collie/whippet/greyhound My link
  12. I'd have said Boston Terrier x what with the ears , colour, and shape of head
  13. My gear : i have 3 body's a 40D ,XSi , XT , all with added battery grips , lenses : i have a 70-200 2.8L , 100-400 4.5-5.6L , 50mm 1.8 , 28-105 3.5-4.5 and a Canon 1.4 extender
  14. id love to see a spannable terrier take on a yote and come out the victor, i have never heard that happening and am curious if you work your dogs on yotes yourself? Hasting, no i don't run my terriers on coyotes, the coyotes up here can easily top the 50lb mark, a good coyote would devour any terrier no matter how hard it was
  15. Not quite , although thats what it might seem like, In Canada they were very smart about hunting, they licensed it , so everyone that wants to hunt goes on a hunters course to learn about( its not a bad thing when you think or some of the idiots that are running around with firearms and dogs ), Wildlife, hunting , safety procedures, etc, you then get issued with what is known as an outdoors card ( looks like a credit card), so for example if you want to hunt coon you go to the post office of hunting shop or even somewhere like Walmart (ASDA) buy the license ( which generally isn't much) it ha
  16. can we see your credentials , and some of your work
  17. Some great imges, i love the cattle sorting shot. . . . . . i should imagine that is a brilliant event to photograph!! Your hunt work is similar to the kind of thing i do, i just find it really annoying that over there you hunt your hounds with collars on! I understand the reasons why but its so alien to see them for us! Heres my website, have a look if your interested. http://www.whitefeatherphotography.co.uk/ I just took a look at your site, very impressive, you have some beautiful work

  20. There's some good shots there , nice composition on a few of them ,but they're a little underexposed Keep on shooting
  21. I could take a look at some of the pictures and see what i could do , i like to take pictures myself so that i can see all the little manorisims of the dog , but that might be a bit difficult here's some of my work
  22. I'd just wait for the DNA test to come back, it will tell you if there's anything else in there, like the previous poster said if you like her and she's coming along good what difference does it make if she's unconventional looking. if the DNA comes back as full lab its not the breeders fault it looks the way it does, unless they guaranteed a show looking dog
