  1. Aye but different ferrets different tactics - i have some that will kill and move on, some that will kill and try to drag it out, but none that will kill, eat and then sleep, which i would consider a 'lay up' and more likely to happen to a hungry ferret. They would all come out eventually, unless the rabbit is still alive, in which case they stay till it's not.
  2. Anyone who finds Hancocks (or rather sally's) methods of breeding and rearing pups for commercial sale acceptable, needs to take a long look in the mirror. There is absolutely no advantage to buying from him other than it's easy to get his number from cmw and he always has pups. If you respect dogs and the running dog world you would not support him. As for slagging off Del - he knows more about working and respecting dogs than most of the idiots on here, so wind your neck in.
  3. Who the f**k is google?

  4. Stand up out of the sunroof - solves the problem of them shifting round the back of the motor.
  5. Rather go lamping with a woman than a f*****g bell end. They don't tend to suffer from thinking they are some kind of last action hero, with a 4 foot dick because their mut can catch a fox/rabbit/hare. Something a bit suspicious about all these boys only clubs that go hang out in laybys and dark fields at night
  6. when he gets near you try backing up so he has to keep coming then stop and get it with loads of praise.worth a try Aye walk backwards.
  7. Touch wood - fed ferrets - no lay ups. Never had to dig to a ferret thats eaten and stopped - only ever dug to ferrets that are on the back of a live rabbit.
  8. I am friendly, apart from to the idiots! It's a lot better on here than the lurcher or terrier section. As for the air rifle section - to be honest it makes me cringe - they are all a bit too back slappy and self congratulatory for my liking
  9. Fair enough. Of course if you've seen a couple you've seen them all - hard to get a good dog these day with all these weak whippets, stupid, slow bull crosses, untrainable salukis, wimpy collie crosses . . . . .
  10. you nly been onhere since may..another banned member i suppose oooooo you trouble maker you!
  11. as already stated, silver is a man made colouring on a domesticated ferret, totally different from the wild, and at the end of day, people here are only offering advice, its down to the individual wether they act on the advice or not why get so angry about members replies that you feel the need to insert a swear word Especially when this is one of the rare times we are NOT being offensive.
  12. Aye and get yourself a whistle and a long training lead. I find that the whistle (which i only use for recall and stop) cuts through to them better than my voice. I like to take the dog out on the training lead (about 20 meters) and just work on recall for a ten minute session. Another was is to have someone hold him, then walk away from him - at a certain distance - turn and give several sharp blasts on the whistle as the other person lets go of his collar - he should run to you - reward him and continue. Also you might want to try walking him to heel on a lead. All of these things re-enforce
  13. lol dont bet your life on it mate Spot on! Why do people think that just cos we have the ownership of a certain species of animal in common we are some kid of sacred brotherhood, we are 'one', all on the same side etc. And like the miserable b*****d i am i would certainly argue against the assertion that 'we all hunt'. I'd say the only thing that definitively unites us is those who oppose what we do. Anti's and organisations like the RSPCA are a common enemy to each and every fisherman, shooter, ferreter, etc. Thats a fair point Malt, but then again some of the folk

  15. I've sunk plastic tubing (smooth) into the river bank at a bit of an angle with fish heads in - mink slide down but can't get back up. .410 - job done.
  16. And dogging is an effective method of pest control?
  17. What a beauty matey. You've got some cracking dogs fair dos to you!
  18. This is something that needs clearing up - just because we all hunt with dogs does not mean we are all the same, on the same side or of 'one kind'. my point excatly :wallbash: get of your fcking high horse Look mate, it aint no f*****g high horse, my only point is just cos me and some other bloke both hunt with dogs doesn't mean we are part of some sacred brother hood and are bonded through eternity to support each other blindly - its not the f*****g masons. I didn't say 'you are all inferior to me' or 'i'm better than you', i just hate all this 'come on guys we are all one' bulls
  19. Give some more info - worked him on what? How old is he? What was his level of obedience before? What do you mean by 'wont listen' - bed recall? wont sit? wont enter cover? What is he doing wrong? What do you want him to be doing? If he was doing absolutely fine and being obedient the time of year should make f**k all difference.

  21. Alright calm down with all the melodrama. Said nothing about 'fat things as big as cats', just that i find that feeding them a normal meal for a healthy working animal before we go ferreting makes f**k all difference to their desire to hunt and gives them the energy to work a full hard day. MIne do not hunt for food. Have you tried feeding them before you went out? Do they not work as well? ALso 30 rabbits is hardly mind blowing is it.
  22. Didn't you say this two pages back -'cant see the piot of kiling edible game in summer with dogs maybe cath a rabbit or two bu tthere lots in places if you no were but the rest will wait till start of autum like very years for many years as fishing wanes the dogs come out from just walks to do there job no big deal realy' and now your telling the guy he's a mug for disagreeing with summer hunting?
