Aye mate, we're just doing the boundry days at the moment, dogging in around the edges of the shoot and shooting longtails left over from last season. First driven day to run next wed! Yay!

  3. Hello All! Right so i was hoping someone could help me? I have just finished a one week ban from THL which started without warning. I can only assume that it was to do with the last topic i started (5 mins before i was banned for a week). This topic was about a puppy that a friend of mine had rescued. The pup had been given a rough start and my mate gave someone some money for it (and a litter mate) just to get them away from where they were. They were built up, wormed, flead etc and turned out crackers, they were also from a decent dog and bitch (sadly we know (well see around) the guy wh
  4. Fair enough, i don't want to ruin the mans post with our argument. You must be some kind of mind reader though if you can tell from that picture how content that ferret is.
  5. Don't talk like a prick, take a good look at that picture that ferret is not stressed in any way. That ferret loves that kid to death as the kid loves the ferret.I wish my kids where young again.Well done mate keep up the good work.P1 You've got a problem with me havn't you para1. I notice you comment on me saying it but not anyone else? I was being positive, i think its great the kid is into the sport and i'm sure the kid loves the ferret, not sure how capable a ferret is of love, so can't comment on that, but either way there is nothing wrong with holding him properly and not just gr
  6. I too have heard this with mainly either young or old dogs running a hare too far, too fast and ending up with some kind of lung damage. Apparently they suddenly open their mouths wide as if they suddenly cant breathe and then pull up. . . . . .
  7. I'm not EXACTLY sure what i'm talking about, but from what i have seen / heard its something to do with the respiratory system, and is usually permanent damage, although the dog can live for years onwards, but not run.
  8. Yer i was thinking of blown as in, blown their lungs/diaphram (? Not sure which ?) leading to them being permanently knackered. I know you can tell when a dog gets back from the run, it usually comes back slow and collapses (from what i have heard). But how would you know after that? Once the dog has recovered enough to walk about etc? because i know some dogs live on for years after it has happened. Also why does it happen? Just running too long, too hard, or without warming up?
  9. You think ferretings tough. . . . try asking if you can lamp!
  10. I posted this in the working dog health section but no one seems to read the threads there. Has anyone had a dog that has/had 'blown' itself. How did it happen, what were the symptoms and what exactly does this mean in terms of biology other than 'f****d itself permanently running too hard'? Cheers, Jai.
  11. Its so depressing to hear that mate . Some folk want to get into hunting to fit into a clique, so get a dog, tell some stories. . . . . that's as far as it gets. Others just kind of get into it because they like dogs and like hunting so it goes together and they are usually the ones that end up with the real passion. I just don't know how someone can look at a dog spending its life on a chain or living in its own shit and not feel extremely guilty and a proper c**t.

  13. You actually go out? I thought you spent all your time in here ....there's no difference in poaching it is what it is. But if your any good no one will know you've been. Naaaaw mate, it's all just theory. Too dark out there for me mate, and a bit cold this time of year. I'm always on mate cos i have a computer at work and it gets f*****g boring! I know there is no actual difference it's just i have double standards, it's ok for me to go poach that land over there, but if any f****r poaches this land over here. . . . i'm cursing! Jut the irony of it really. Here's another questio
  14. I poach, you poach, we poach. . . . such is life. It can be f*****g annoying though. There is no way to manage land or the game on it, when it's being lamped 5 days a week by different folk all taking as many as possible and many starting too early. Means everywhere is like a desert by november. IMO there is a difference between poaching land where they wont give permission to anyone and poaching land which is someone elses permission. I keep finding fences cut, gates left open and a mess made on land i have fought hard to get rights on and it REALLY boils my piss at the time. It also makes me
  15. I know mate, but f**k knows what some of them are crossed with.
  16. Imagine trying to flush it with a deer/grey and drop it with a rifle? Apart from anything else it would ruin the dog surely?

  19. its dark aint it , Fair point, but why push the fields too early and waste them . . . . there are a lot of hours before it gets light. look befor ya have some stupid arsed argument on the merrits of what time to hunt/poach, i was meerly pointing out to the colonel that he'd be better spending his time untin:thumbs: of course the irony is were almost arguing like he wanted:laugh: Sorry mate, i really wasn't being argumentative, i thought we were just having a chat? I agree it's better to be hunting than on here, but was just adding that many folk including mys
