  1. Yep mate, if you watch them, they scoff, sleep, scoff, sleep, scamper, scoff, scamper, scoff, sleep, all night.
  2. just a couple of questions on that theory....I feed mine the same way, give them meat last thing at night and then the next morning take it out. My ferrets are very energetic, in great shape, great coats etc.....how can that be if I'm not giving them what they "need"?? Obviously my ferrets can only eat at night, but they're running free in the yard all day long, they spend a fair amount of time asleep but in total a good few hours playing, running and exploring in the yard. If they weren't getting enough food they wouldn't have the energy for that, surely? Also, I'm assuming they have p

  5. Where the government chucked em innit mate.
  6. You lot wouldnt be knocking them if you were buying your cut price booze off em.
  7. Interesting point. Never seem to hear of terrier men talking about conditioning of dogs, only ever of breeding and entering. Whereas in the lurcher, gun dog etc world conditioning for work is a big topic. Seems that many think a terrier just needs to be 'ard enuff'.
  8. In the garage, listening to tunes, butchering carcasses.

  9. Last winter i was keeping six together, including two hobs that will eat as much as the four jills between them. Them hobs can really eat, a whole rabbit is easily gone in a day. This winter it will be eight, 5 jills and 3 hobs. When you say they eat a whole rabbit in one sitting or two in a day, how many ferrets are there? If I gave my two a quarter of a rabbit there's nearly always some left uneaten, they wouldn't eat more than half a rabbit in a day between them. They never have eaten much for some reason and yet they're not skinny or anything.
  10. Mafia run to f**k. But the south is amazing, the Rhodope mountains are great.
  11. I sense a wee comp starting lol I might come doon wi rakeaboot just for back up like Which classes are we going for? Who's whippet breaks easiest? Or fucks off quickest? I'll have johnnyboy as my second. Actually, just a thought, should we not be uniting to defeat the old enemy?
  12. Anyone feeding any animal tinned food needs their head read. Ferrets will eat pretty much any meat at all, but steer clear of stuff with added salt (pork products). Mine get the full range of vermin / game, mostly frozen and defrosted in the summer (with dry food as an addition during the day). In the winter, they usually get fresh killed game / vermin every day, and i always leave the skin on and try for a third of their weekly rabbits to leave the guts in, as i believe that this provides the 'full range' of nutrients etc. One of the problems i do have is the meat freezing sol
  13. Folk like that do not deserve to have dogs mate, and sadly that's most dog owners.
  14. Aye, i'll fight you! Thing is mate, my lad is not what i would have thought of as a 'standard or typical whippet' either. I'm not saying that the collie is in the last few generations, but perhaps a touch way back? Nice dogs anyway, and more whippet that anything else, so whippet it is i guess. Maybe a whippet fight would be better?
  15. Hook . . . . . . line. . . . . . . and sinker!
  16. The more i see that litter, the more i'd put money on the fact that somewhere way back in the line there is collie in em. No bad thing that though.
  17. There are a few mate, wack some pms out. Baw is a good bet, well into his salukis. Dotty - big into whippets. Tedd - seems to be ranked very highly amongst the 'dogging' folk.
  18. Politics, Money, Power and other 'favours'. Got sweet FA to do with helping poor folk. Why the feck do you think we give Inda 'aid' and what do you think most of it is spent on. . . Giving their main neighbours! See the bigger picture lads!
  19. You gonna call him lucky? Bad times mate, but hopefully this one makes it all the way and does you proud.
  20. You can use TWO DOGS to flush to gun, but it's a very grey area in law.... HUNTING foxes with dogs is ilegal Cheers. maybe so, but its better to be a grey area than in black an white, stating its not allowed HUNTING with dogs is ILEGAL...FLUSHING with dogs to gun is LEGAL... Big difference between the two. Cheers. hang a dang mate, surely the only person that knows if they are flushing/hunting, is the person doing the said task so if im out hunting, but say im flushing to the gun, but cant get a safe shot when said quarry bolts, an dog catches by
  21. I think it's one of them things where it depends on who you are facing as well, some folk would just do you as your dog killed a fox, so therefore intentionally or not, you hunted said fox with a dog, which is illegal. Just cos it's an accident is probably not going to sit well as an excuse, they would ask why you didnt call the dog off. . . . were you not in control of it? Because most of us walk our dogs off lead in the countryside and who can tell what is about to jump out of the next bush. . . . ???

  23. I think the thing that your missing is that there is A LOT more to be done by a good 'ferreting dog' than just mark rabbits to ground. But apart from that i agree with what you are saying, a lot has to do with the individual dog and how it;s brought on, rather than specific breed.
