How about letting me borrow her around her season Got to make some kind of plan for the future mate. . . . . and hopefully the not too distant future! Like fecking hens teeth though, such a shame there wasn't four in that litter O yer, on the topic of borrowing live stock - i need your rent boy ferret, all five of my jills are fully in and gagging for it!

Aye, pretty much mate. To be honest i AM wanting a pup, and one that has a good chunk of collie, but one that has been bred lurcher to lurcher and worker to worker. They are like hens teeth. I know of one line, and a possible future mating that sounds like it would be for me, but i was just fishing about for what else might be out there. Collie type lurchers suit the kind of stuff i do on the kind of land i do it.

I will just add that i think i know of one but it's up to those involved if they want to label them dogs 'collie based lurchers'.
-
I think it can be generally accepted that collie based lurchers are popular amongst lurcher men, and the folk of THL. I see plenty of dogs up on here on a fairly regular basis, including some that look decent enough. When a friend of mine, was looking to breed his old bitch, it was quite hard work to find a suitable stud, but in the end we found a few decent dogs (unfortunatly the breeding never happened due to the bitches age ). So, there are definatly good collie based runners out there. . . . However, looking at a lot of what is out there, they are either 1st x, 3/4 bred or 5/8 3/8.

Aye, but down the line it can become your problem, when you are looking about and the world is full of shit dog, shit pups and shit studs.

At the end of the day, i'm surprised it doesnt happen more often, given the kind of folk they recruit, and the kind of brain washing they recieve . . . . I have loads of kids in my school who want to join the army - why? - To kill rag heads. - To blow shit up. - To f**k up the pakis. Same kids couldnt find afghanistan or pakistan on a world map, have never left their south wales shit hole of a town, and have such a flawed understanding of politics, hostory etc, that it is painful (so a lot in common with most of THL ) At the end of the day the yanks cant wade about saying th

To To be honest love, two years is still way to young to breed any bitch . . . . how much work can a two year old have seen? Maybe one proper season? At two years old, a dog is only just leaving puppyhood behind imo.

CHeers all

Aye, but "pushed it up himself" means he hunted it up, and the hare had f**k all law, so it's not quite the same as killing a good hare, with decent law. At the end of the day most lurchers with a decent chunk of sight hound should be able to kill a hare that has got up in front of it's nose, but with decent law, most lurchers will have used up too much juice getting up on the hare and breaking its straight run, to then do the rest of the job. Hence the saluki blood etc. jmo.

Why you knocking the lad, he's just giving folk a heads up that this litter is bred out of a dog that has seen f**k all. If she is 12 months now, she started the season at 6 months, so cant have seen any real graft at all. I'm surprised Powell stuck his dog over a pup.

What is your problem with everyone? He obviously dint know there was a fox to ground, it was an accident. O no the wales chuckle brother reared his head pretty much say Johhny will be along shortly to agree with you I didnt say it was entered to see if charlie would bolt did I Just saying its better to use a terrier You need to look back over the replies to see you have the problem with ME you have even said sorry for maybe getting me wrong. I am guessing your a bit hot headed so sometimes type things in haste . Look forward to one of your or Johhny replies as you wil

To be honest i agree with dan. If you have a good line of lurcher to lurcher dogs and there are a few good lines similar about, you are never gonna need a greyhound and like the man said its going backwards. But fact is in this country and probably most, most folk don't have such a line, or know anyone who does. So a greyhound is needed to start one.

Cheers mate I laughed at the mind control from finn. Give me the donut! Good girl!

Traditional welsh beach weather mate

Took the missus and the mutt to the beach today for a walk, as her indoors loves the sea, and Finn has never seen it before. Had a good mooch around some dunes, and Finn had some good hunts amongst the scrub, managing to put out a couple of rabbits that he had a decent run on, looked like he was on to catch the one, when he wiped himself out flying down a near verticle sand bank. Still, he had some fun and excercise, and it was another different type of land for him to hunt. Finished up with a long walk along the seas edge, and a picnik. Finn found the sea fascinating, if a little scary and pl

True view on working pedigree whippets!

It's been a long, hard road, getting him to where i want him, but i wouldn't change the little fecker for the world. -
Surely if they are worth breeding, then you should have more folk after pups than pups born . . . . . . Although i totally agree with culling in theory, i think a lot of folk like talking about it because it makes them feel like 'proper serious dogmen'.

As soon as its more digs than bolts, its away with the ferrets, and out with the gun for me.
-
Rob - There used to be hares about mate, and on some of my permissions as well. . . . . but they got wiped out by lads lamping them over and over with multiple dogs etc. There are a few places which have them, but they are a closely guarded secret, god forbid too many lurcher / guns lads found out, it would be ruined for good. I'm not surprised that the dog caught it, i doubt it was given any law, it had its mind on other things, etc etc. No impressive feat.
-
Aye, i'll second that!
-
Aye , 100% agree tomo! Also, lets not lie, it's really fun being 'on safari' P.S - Never take any advice off someone who suggests muzzling your ferrets
