  4. Went out today with johnnyboy to try for a few rabbits on some land we have been asked to clear. We have not been to this section before, so it was a bit of a recce, to see what was what. We had young Tom and johns step daughter Caitlin with us, Luna, Gem and FInn and a few ferrets. We met up with our friend and had a walk about the first spot for the day, having a bit of a catch up. Pretty soon Finn nailed a mixy rabbit sat out from the edge, and that was all we found at the first place. We jumped in the car and drove a little way up the road to try the second spot we had been reques
  5. Went out friday with Joe777 on here, he came to mine early doors and we headed off to one of mine and johnnyboys permissions. We got down there early, and got the dogs out of the car, we had Finn and Joe's young 3/4 grey 1/4 collie sapling Dace with us, and were using joes two jills. The plan was to have a bit of sport and try to give Dace some ferreting experiance. We let the dogs have a race about and made for a hedge that i fancied doing, which we did last year in two parts and had around 50 out of i think. As we made our way toward the hedge in question, we saw about a half dozen rabbi
  6. Cheers all, I've never seen any signs Nothing there now anyway, used to be but no more. Not worth hunting, but good fishing and a decent place for a stroll on a nice day. And aye, its a beagle / teckle mix and a little cracker.
  7. The pup is great mate, a proper character! She is about full height i think, need to measure her. She is starting to use her nose well, follows lines, has flushed rabbits, phesants and deer and marks to ground. Has started to speak a bit as well.
  8. Aye, the three of us had a good look and all agreed... .he was at home.
  9. Get another, get some gps and use them to legally flush foxes to the gun? On a similar note i have been half training a mixed hound as a cover dog and plan to try to shoot over her, but she is NOT a pure fox hound, but a beagle/teckle. At the moment she has good recall on the whistle, stops on the whistle, retrieves, is broken to the gun, sits and heals.Starting on stay now.
  10. Was out last year and the dog flushed a rabbit out and it went through a wall, i watched it travel all the way down the hillside and into a single hole beneath an old building, i went down and stuck a net on, planning to ferret it out later that day, trying to avoid a kill under the concrete. Walked back up the hill and on the way up the dog put a nother rabbit up and ran it all the way back down the hill into the net.
  11. Cheers pal been doing a little since, and out tomo and sunday. So fingers crossed.

Maybe you should invite Cookie and see what his Curs could add to the Pot. .But he would'nt come he will be way too busy purse netting his big 500 hole warrens Yeh 200 southern shandy drinking rabbits,, most of them are welsh,, bet you can tell the difference when you come north,,, lol All joking aside last week me and vin went out to east anglier , had 18 lamping and they were far smaller than those brutes from the dales,, and they seemed in poor nick as well as being small. Mind they still ran like
  16. Well done brim, and very nice to hear someone talking about conservation of the humble coney
  17. Thanks all for the kind words! We had our third day today, and despite some f**k ups, resulting in losing birds from drives etc, we managed 84 for the day, picked up. Will probably find a couple more tomorrow morning. Gkeeper - i know that we should be shooting 40 % on paper, but this shoot has never made that. Like i said before, we have no surrounding shoots, and the land surrounding has big crop fields that draw the birds like mad. Also the estate is very long and quite thin, meaning you are never that far from a border. Add to that, the fact that our boss like to do stuff like have
  18. Glad you are posting again mate, the kids are looking grown up.
