  1. Cracking dressing gown. And the pups ain't bad either. I like that red dog
  2. Same old same old . . . . And unfortunately the only things that don't suffer as a result are the wankers, as they just move off elsewhere. . . . . It's just depressing. . . . . . .
  3. Sorry to hear about the old gal ,...she certainly was an honest bitch,.realy liked her... You are right, to stick with what you know,...I prefer a fair bit of cur blood in a rabbiting lurcher,..they are good fun.. All the best, Phil. They are looking cracking Phil . . . . .
  4. Depends what the owner of the dog in question wants from it. To me. . . the first one would be feck all use. But then again, I cant imagine a dog that could catch 5 hares, not being able to catch some other shit a long the way . . . . if the owner was that way inclined.
  5. Talk money He lives in a castle . . . . . B.S Aye. . . true . . . true . . .Fast forward some years and stick your big lad over a fast, racy type long dog, and you got the faster dog, without losing the other stuff maybe. . . . . at least thats i'm keen to find out
  6. Everyday I see a cracking, racy collie bitch, that works 1000 + sheep, about cattle, pigs and wild boar, and is also used for hunting. And I know of a good working greyhound dog. But unfortunatly the owner of the collie won't hear of it
  7. BS - Thats a fine looking dog. My recent observations in general have been that unless running certain quarry on big open land. . . . a half x is fast enough to catch whats run. The speed added to a 3/4 doesnt benefit enough to warrent the other stuff that can (not always) be lost. . . . . .just from what i've seen. Although they are. . . . . fast as f**k. . . .
  8. Im pretty sure we know of a good working greyhound dog paulf. . . . .
  9. Ok to pull this thread back on track what would you pay for a dog say in you opinion from good stock and to expand do you think the price varies from region to region and to add some perspective the last dog I bought cost me £450 plus two round trips of 400 miles to see the pup and then to collect it .and that was four years ago. I could not pay that sort of money now as the cost of living has gone up so much. If I wanted the dog enough, I guess i'd pay what was asked. . . . But I suppose for me, the upper levels of what I consider 'fair' for a well bred pup, from grafting parents
  10. This thread makes me think that some folk really know very little about field trailing and have not seen many decent trialling dogs work!
  11. Having a decent dog helps, you can walk onto a piece of land and quickly tell how much scent and therefore game is about and if its worth a trip etc.
  12. We hit everything hard once, and take most of them, and tell the land owner to give us a bell if it looks like its picking up too much. Then we tend to have a quick scout end of season to mop up owt we've missed. And hope like feck it recovers over summer!
