if the pup is allowed to play in the kennels during the day he will associate the kennel with fun,or kennel him for short periods, then gradually increase the periods until he is happy enough ny himself, the problems usually begin when left all night alone,it's down to the pup feeling secure, you will have to let it whine and ignore him the first night, after this they will give up,but you shouldn't go rushing to him when they are whining, wait till they have stopped for a while or they will always whine to get you to let them out, hope this helps, Higgins.

here's the song in full; Now there's many a song about hunting, Packs and huntsmen are honoured by name, But there isn't a song about terriers Which in Lakeland have gained lasting fame. No pedigree have these great warriors, Their colour no rules can define, But they're bred for there pluck and for spirit, With a heart as brave as a lion. Chorus: So always remember your terriers, Protect them from wet and from cold, For the love of a tyke for his master Can never be measured in gold. Whether it's Fury or Trixie or Nellie, Or Rock, Jock or Turk it's the same One qualit

bryans ortovox box and coller set
higgins replied to dehoffmeister's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
some intreseting points raised here, firstly Dog Fox mentions calibration, this is important in matching equipment, the best thing to do is buy the equipment together as it will be matched to collar and receiver, even though collars and boxes can be used with either, adjustments will then have to be made or recalibrated to give accurate readings. Secondly, response times,it appears the Ortovox is slightly faster at refreshing readings, this is definite plus. Third, range,or maximum working distance, the ortovox seems adequate enough for most situations,a bonus is the marking facility which can allow -
got a family pet dog here who goes nuts, just started to rip the kennels to bits,so have now had to keep him indoors under the stairs,he is ok in there, have tried herbal remedies with him,but they do not remove the fear,i will have to get the CD and desentisize him for next year, the terrier i have is not too bad,but he has witnessed the other dog's fear so has picked it up,i'm not overdoing the reassurance for the terrier as i don't wan't him going the same way.I dread tonight, possibly this weekend and then there's new years to go,atb, Higgins

mickb not having a pop just like my dogs to be able to see what's going outside their kennel,my next kennel is facing towards the house, that way i can see them and they have a view outside their kennel,i'm sure it keeps the dogs interesteted in what's going on and you can have a quick visual glance from the house if the dogs are okay, atb, Higgins.

i know this has been on before, but i make no apologies for bringing it back up,there must be thousands of dogs terrified of the noise from fireworks, even if you think your dogs are quiet, may be they are SUFFERING QUIETLY ,trembling and not making noise for fear of owners punishments, cursing etc;Is there anything available over the counter at health shops/chemists that is effective and that really calms dogs down,i know some ingredients to look out for are valerian and skullcap, can anyone reccommend a specific product, and price, this year has not been as bad firework wise but it seems the isolat
