  1. Once had a conker fight with my next door neighbour and when my conker smashed his a struggle began as he grabbed hold of me and reached into a kitchen drawer for a knife.....that was scary but what was scarier was when i tried to escape i was fumbling with the front door latch as i heard him approaching behind me....I made it though only just....yep i think conkers should be banned, Higgins.
  2. If the Dam to my pup is - 1/4 Whippet =(25%) 1/4 Staff =(25%) 1/4 Greyhound =(25%) 1/4 Bull =(25%) And the Sire is - 1/4 Bull =(25%) 3/4 Greyhound =(75%) Then 1/4 equates to 25% of each breed,it's not 1/2 greyhound as this would be 50% greyhound, greyhound has been given at 1/4 which is 25%. Correct me if i'm wrong lads but my reckoning is that this pup is 4/8 greyhound 2/8 bull 1/8 whippet 1/8 staff higgins
  3. Some of my best ratting dogs were lurchers, Higgins
  4. How old is the dog?Was it the first time out?Does the dog work any other quarry? Try just using him for ratting for a while, take him on digs but let him watch and don't try putting him down a hole until he is keen to go.A dog should never be forced to enter an earth,it should only go down if it's keen and wants to explore or find his quarry.Someone who forces dogs down holes will usually end up with a ruined terrier, atb, Higgins.
  5. Can't wait Charlie, should be a laugh, just got to make sure my wallet's full(didn't know you was bringing a 7 yr old terrier!)anyway i've confidence in my accidentally entered novice, Higgins.
  6. i wouldn't bother now the dog is too old, unless it's going to injure itself, then a vet should do it.It's not worth the hassle, expense and pain to your dog just for cosmetic reasons, ignore what people say,if the dog works well for you that's all that matters, Higgins.
  7. How many you got DM?Good to see them getting out.Any spots for our ratting comp yet?My pup V your veterans, quite looking forward to it lol, loser buys the rounds in, Higgins

  11. Do a search on google it's true, farmers are being given licences to cull them as part of a widespread cull on badgers,TB is getting out of hand and too many infected cattle, Higgins.
  12. Not sure what they'll be allowed to do,only just caught a bit of it on BBC news, they are being allowed to control them(whatever that entails and what methods i don't know)maybe it's being debated at the minute, Higgins.
  13. This is the first bit of news i've heard about farmers being given the go ahead to control badgers for fear of TB infecting their cattle.Anyone else heard this or know of the details? Higgins.
  14. Personally i wouldn't bother unless you can better the current models which have improved enormously both in range and directional pinpointing, but a simple tracking device is certainly easy enough to make.
  15. I used to make tbe collars for the mk1s for myself and a few terrier lads.A guy in shooting news was selling the bits needed with instructions on making them, don't know if anyone else was doing them.Saved myself a small fortune on the cost of collars at the time, Higgins
