  1. I went hunting hares in an orchard I only wanted one but I came out with a pear
  2. The only decent deerhound blooded dogs Ive seen have had a large dash of something else ie saluki, bull, collie, bedlington jmo yes Ive owned 1 yes Ive seen what people call good Deerhound lurchers run and I was highly dissapointed you could say a lot younger then I felt conned by the hype that surrounds this breed.Ime not saying they dont catch quarry but Ive seen other breeds do it a lot better, perhaps they suit people that take a great deal of sattisfaction out of just watching a dog run,but for those who want more they just dont cut the mustard.JMO
  3. Wouldnt touch one with a barge pole JMO
  4. you pay your money you take your chance.
  5. What age did its parents enter at ? How are its litter [banned text] going on? I wouldnt be expecting to much at 11 months old just let it grow up be patient and enjoy the bushing lol.
  6. Been lucky to see a couple of Turks breeding work very very nice.
  7. I wouldnt touch one with a barge pole.........they all sound good in hard back books or from old boys stories but Ive seen a lot of of genuine Deerhound/greyhound crosses work and theyve been lacking. The only ones Ive seen that have been ok have always had some thing else in their blood i.e.saluki or bull or bedlington.JMHO.
  8. Probably to much terrier for most of the so called digging lads on here
  9. Hard dogs useless LOL Ive been told by an old boy if you didnt have reasonably hard dogs you would loose to much quarry through them either digging away or through giving the run around or giving ground to easily when the quarry charged.Just his opinion. He also said the best gamest hardest terriers are not as stupid as some people say and that a decent terrier will adjust his style depending on what situation hes put in.He believes that in the past a lot of promising badger dogs were ruined by pricks not willing or able to dig to the dog forcing the dog to quit. His words.

Labour voting citizens LOL you only have yourselves to blame the rest of us are also to blame for letting it happen...............what a country 2 minutes silence at a football match for dead prostitutes 39 dead service men and women killed in Afghanistan last year not a mention for them the country doesnt seem to give a f**k ............we deserve what we get and were going to get it.........................Dont get me started LOL LOL.
  11. Hunting up bushing etc with terriers is always a good way to increase the bag.......would never keep a terrier that wouldnt work to ground.....wasnt that long a go packs would let terriers run with hounds. As for having a terrier that wont go to ground without being told LOL ,its heart cant be in it.
  12. Intresting you have time to spend spending time on this forum PB LOL.
  13. I like Borders there great dogs ,any terrier worthy of the name should be taking rats before a year old, bushing rabbits should come naturaly but using a terrier for retrieving isnt to my tastes and seems a bit gimmicky to me JMHO. Its a crying shame your not intrested in working a terrier to ground as this realy is its reason for existance and the reluctance of lads willing to work Borders to ground will be the final nail in the coffin for this once very popular digging dog.
  14. I would always prefer to be with a lurcher than without one give a fox half a chance and he will be gone no point in giving foxy any more leeway. As for next years breeding stock LOL there will always be plenty about ask yourt local keeper or shepherd LOL.
  15. lright to have a point of view as long as its the same as yours hey snoopy...LOL. More name calling anyone? We live in a very populated island (over populated). The lads in the usa while out hunting see cougars and other large cats and those lads have a lot more room than we do,cougars my arse. As for urban foxes being any smaller or weaker than their rural counter parts, not true.In some parts of town maybe in others definatly not ,Ive been fortunate enough to hunt and kill plenty of urban foxes within the M25 circle and generaly they have been up to rural standards.Perhaps snoop you shou
  16. Jackanory time yet again...............perhaps he needs to get out more.......a lot of very big foxes in towns .If foxes are so territorial how come you can get 5 or 6 foxes coming to the same call at the same time all independant yet all coming from the same general direction. If anything the boom in the fox population is through a lack of keepers not an abundance of them, maybe there are more game birds and more shoots but the number of keepers employed to look after those birds is a lot less. Definatly more foxes in towns and a lot of them are in very good shape they havnt been pushed there
  17. Stck it in a sack if your that stupid your going to stand or sit on it you shouldnt have ferrets lol.
  18. There has always been russels that are harder than other russels and lakelands that have been described as inteligent because they would bay. Maybe Ime easily pleased(only single handed of coarse) as long as there is a "game bird killer"accounted for at the end of the dig the style isnt over immportant.
  19. Well done [bANNED TEXT] .Inteligent of you to leave the red dog off a little he is still only young and at his stage spectating will help after his earlier victory. Bet the vixen fought harder.
  20. Jack russel x Greyhound a good chance of opening up.JMO.
  21. Good post,a bit of a cut and bruise now goes along way to teaching them its not all fun and games.
  22. Shame you couldn of squeezed a bit of collie and bedlington in aswell.
  23. When a terrier is of the right age running free with a locator collar on ,in the right area, has given me plenty of sport pushing stuff out of cover aswell as digging but then its never been an aspiration to be a proffesional .LOL
  24. Start them in simple shallow earths .the right breeding generaly gives the terrier a shove in the right direction it will be in there nature to work.
