  3. Agree with above posts, yes it may be a lot of money but to keep the harmony and tensions down - if it was me I'd just pay the £150 and hope to god nothing else' comes of it. When I got into birds i had no choice but to 'break' the dogs to them - we had a situation where the big boys got out and went to town on 20 birds was my fault, but lucky I lost no birds when I told them to stop they stopped and let the hens go.   4. yes I have to agree ducks here lay better than hens lol I mind last year I had so many eggs I had no idea what to do with them all! I'm a big believer in not wasting them (bloody work that goes into animals here no fecking wasting anything)

  10. We'll nothing special about them but I love them! Most I hatched out myself. No heirs or graces about them. Coops opened up in the morning and that's them free run of the place until dusk when they're shut in for the night. I like to call them my farmyard specials lol
  11. Id some straw fall from its bale so I took it across and left it down as a wee helping hand seems someone's making nests as it's near gone now! We've a few breeds here but some I don't know what they are - magpies often come in but - I think it's the blackbirds

  17. Nice - I do like Sussex. I started with one rooster one hen and then hatched out a few of my own. There hardy wee things that's for sure!
  18. Brilliant post. That second pictures fantastic he looks proud as punch with them birds! Everytime I'm in my sisters day centre (adults with learning difficulties) I come out smiling. I swear I could go in, in a bad mood come out smiling from ear to ear. I love this wee saying it's just too true! Down Syndrome, it doesn’t mean I’m down, it means I help people who are feeling down. My smiles are contagious, my laugh is medicine for the heart, my hugs are heavenly, and my heart itself is pure gold.
  19. I hatched a roosters last year and only one crows... Weird the wee one started crowing just before 10am first time ever! I think it's just a silly coincidence though as I saw nothing this morning
