  1. a lot of so called dog men out there giving us a bad name too.just my opinion but the go where you like do what you like attitude only feeds the antis ammunition.a bit of savi is needed.we will all be tarred with the same brush as the lads who hunt with no respect for people property or quarry.unfortunatly there seems to be plenty of em about.
  2. dead on pal work away another anti what do you mean by this? Basically what he is suggesting is that you're a bunny hugging opponent of everything we hold dear...and that you have come on here with infiltration in mind...you're intention is to solicit confessions of the most awful crimes against wildlife...admissions of dog fighting as well as penetrative sex with badgers...and oral sex with otters......and then to use them against us in an attempt to secure spurious convictions... Personally I don't believe it.... I reckon by your post sheep are your thing....
  3. not had much experience with whippets.what they like to train?
  4. exactly hot meat.easier seeing a rabbit when your 6ft tall as apposed to 2ft That's why I train my dogs to walk on their back legs when I'm lamping. Pure laziness to not train a dog to walk like that and just expect it to see game on all 4s. :icon_eek:
  5. in my opinion mate yes get your lab or spaniel to stop and concentrate on you but the lurcher should be scanning for quarry.not sure if im making sense but a lab should be able to stop to signal and look to you for direction but imho once a lurcher is running in its out of your hands.two different disciplines really.
  6. if you use this method in the daytime walkingtowards said quarry hissing like a loon and pointing the dog will eventually learn to run where your pointing with just a little pssst. best get it used to it on the lamp first though mate
  7. seriously though ignore the shit and just give the hissing and walking up thing a go you wont be disappointed
  8. Ive yet to meet a lurcher owner that can see as well, scent as well or sense as wll the quarry in front of it,now thats an owner that deserves the mythical Norfolk type runner, worker and feeder, not many of them in Yorkshire I can certainly spot a rabbits eye in the beam when its tucked down in the longer start of season grass.as for an inexperienced dog to instinctively know theres one there or know what its looking at??????????????????????????????
  9. exactly hot meat.easier seeing a rabbit when your 6ft tall as apposed to 2ft
  10. cant believe some of you are arguing the toss.the point here is not a bloke working his dog on a hair.the point is people wrecking property threatening to burn buildings down and generally being the scum of the earth.and as for the give em a slap approach.... youll probably get your head stoved in your dogs stolen or poisoned and your house/car burnt down. worst thing is the plod are scared to death of the feckin dids. I would put money on the land owner preferring to see hares and all wildlife around.these are country people.but when it comes to your family living in fear and your expensive
  11. keep hissing at her as your walking up to rabbits on the lamp.she soon learn this is the sound that means rabbit ahead.will soon twig on bud.all the best.mat.
  12. maybe you should invent an xbox lurcher game.i want half the proceeds though cos its my brain child
  13. solid looking hound that.credit to you.
  14. that's a seriously smart looking dog that border whippet
  15. mine used to yip when in pursuit and if trained will only go as far ahead as you allow.
  16. nice looking dog.be no stopping her now
  17. one with decent parents doing the job.then its in your hands.imho most failures are probably the handlers fault. if your savy enough you could train most dogs to do most tasks so get a cross you like the look of and take your chance. atb.mat
