  1. You can breed polecat with European mink but not American mink and as with most hybrids the offspring are sterile...learnt that when this post first came up ...googled it as I wasn't sure They are known as khonoriks I think that is how it is spelt? TC They are known as knobpricks in Waterford
  2. Ha! I'd rather trap the feckin flamingo's.
  3. I think JD knows a thing or two about snaring squirrels.?
  4. No expert on squirrels, but recon they would move them alright.
  5. When I lived in Lincs I shot a muntjac Buck that I'm sure was at least a silver medal. I buried in a secure corner of the garden and put some paving slabs on top. My then girlfriends c**t of a Labrador dug it up and chewed the antlers off... A jasus, was no need to dump her over that incident surely. Harsh! Lol
  6. Don't think anyone is actually moaning about mole catching threads. More like moaning about the lack of anything else. There is a difference I think. Lol I think many are wary of posting about trapping/snaring other quarry, because of ever changing legislation. This makes it difficult to always stay within the law, and fear of even the slightest hiccup, to be pointed out and frowned upon on here. Not saying that these things should not be pointed out. Just that sometimes, threads are destroyed by concentrating more on the mistake, rather than what the thread was about in the first plac
  7. Nice to see all the different types of traps and sets used, with good results. You had a couple doubles there too I see. Thanks for sharing!?
  8. Got Fenn's down 24/7 .Been getting a few.My neighbour is feeding the birds in his garden and can't understand why Rats are present Those bird tables are a magnet alright. A lot of people feed the birds all year round. No need for it.
  9. Lads no point fluting around. Just keep traps down the whole time, and you'll have very little rat trouble.
  10. That should catch a few mags alright, once you get your call bird. This is the time of year to get that trap working. By the way, can't see from the photo's, but make sure you have a perch and drinker installed in the call bird side of the trap.
  11. To help those looking for a grand total of donations. Here's what a non member of THL sent. Message from non member is: "That actually brings us to within a couple of quid of what the scamming f**kers reckon they got. The total they stated was probably about the only honest thing they f**king said! "
  12. Fly tying Think there's a fishing lure company in the US who advertise each year for squirrel tails. They only offer a few pence per tail.
  13. Need any volunteers to test out your lure JD??
  14. Eddie, my brother was one hell of a drinker and loved the Whisky. However , he told the myself the Poitin was in a somewhat different league. Hope I'm correct with the spelling of the drink in question. "Perhaps you can can enlighten myself with you being from Ireland"?Is the drink you mentioned made with potatoes, sorry I don't know a great deal about this drink to be honest? Neil might know more about the stuff than I do. It can definitely be made with potatoes, but I think barley makes better stuff. I think it can be made with all kinds of base ingredient. The problem with poitin is, there'
  15. I used to sell a lot of the stuff and a few years ago I had a visit off two Norwegian dogmen so I thought I'd give them a taste of Irish hospitality. At the time I was well used to Poitin so I got out a bottle and poured 3 large glasses. I took a sip and let out the usual "oh yeh" after a mouthful. One of the Norwegians drank the lot of the head and calmly said "Is nice ya, can I have some more please ?" We drank two bottles and I cant remember much but I do know that the Norwegians walked out of my house in a straight line. The one who drank it off the head even looked like a viking. I coul
  16. Think I mentioned before, a young lad from the US, who moved over to Ireland a few years ago, was snaring fox's, and his Dad, who traveled over and back to the US on business, used to bring the pelts with him. This was when the market was good, and fox pelts were fetching around 50 dollars. He also mentioned that the big Irish pelts were getting top dollar! Thing is, he said it was cheap enough get them over. Of course it ain't possible for the majority, but shows it can be done!

  18. Lads I'm not kidding ya, a good bottle of poitin is nicer than any malt whiskey. Not the shite they sell down the pub, but the real deal! Much nicer taste than whiskey, although I'm fond of a bit of paddy's too.? Take her easy mind!
  19. Well you've put a lot of work into getting some quality footage JD, it'd be a shame not to make a video out of it now.
  20. Can't recommend any books lad, but make sure your snares include a swivel, and a stop set at 33cm to make them legal here.
  21. EXACTLY mate..... i've redesigned a koro and it looks very good, even if I say so myself. Different trigger and tredle... Can you put your design into use JD, as just say, a modified trigger?
  22. is there even such a trap?? It is amazing how they can pass a trap that doesn't exist.....hhhmm.... the koro has a bar that fires forward and can push the target out of the way of the kill bar. This is a bad, bad design that will cause injuries and non-lethal catches such as toes and feet......of course, if they had tried the trap out they'd know that. but they didn't.....there's only one way to set a Koro to get 100% kill (or as near as damn it) and they have specified it cannot be used in such a way...it's really, really quite mad!! It all seems a bit crazy! The first time I heard of a
  23. What's it all about JD, is it just a money racket? Another thing! With last year's changes including the addition of the Duke 116 for squirrel, what real benefit does this trap give us? BMI being a far superior trap, I don't see a need for Duke. Well unless BMI are intending to cease production of the 116?
