  2. Alli. . THEN A GOOD WALK OR RUN EVERY DAY IF U CAN. MINE R OK BY IT, Only if you can, messer, what's wrong with twice a day every day no matter what?????
  3. Its a fact that a lurcher is a must have fashion accessiorie to a ned in trainers so sadly you must expect the three to appear in the same pictures from time to time, but jokes aside, lurcher & terrier work are country pursuits, now any one with more than one brain cell would get dressed appropriatly to go out and partake in such things, so for those that stand in the middle of the dubby park proudly holding game next to there dog while standing in there spanky White trainers for the show shot, they deserve all the stick they get, they look feckin daft and do none of us any favours in the
  4. Water even after a day looks old and minging!! And looks ALOT older than it is. Leave well alone!!
  5. Don't listen to him, it will sharp turn shitty and will do them more harm than good. Water systems sharp add up in price. I use 3x45 gallon frond, alkathine pipe then a line of bell drinkers.
  6. Sheds. and as they were prob taken several hundred mile they were prob just put out to grass, no need to hide them!! I get farmwatch emailed through a hunt, it's amazing how much of it goes on, farm thefts in general too!!!
  7. JD I'm sure you posted the same last year at this time after a thread or two about shooting branchers, as you say there is always two sides to everything. I personally think saying that they "don't do much damage" is a little off the mark. When I go to my pens in earlly July I can a no doubt will again be greeted by clouds of the fecking things leaving from around the pens feeders, I'd estimate it costs us in exsess of £1500 every year in the pellets they eat. Add this to the seed they root up on the drillings, eating some while exposing other bits for the pigeons to clean up, then there's th
  8. im miles from Sutherland but about a hour from the moray firth. You can see the dolphins regular from there to Aberdeen
  9. If she was using the "smelly" dens, she won't be now as u have been right up to the hole.... As for middens beiing illegal, old style open ones are, I'm sure they have to be covered from sight, wether from the public or b.o.p.. Just been on the sga snaring course, your in for a shock south of the border if you get the same down there.. No fence snares, no "thick" brashing around snares, drags over I think 44lb, no snares near water, this list goes on and on ( the only place left is sheep paths!!! ;o)
  10. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=90943. Some ungainly heads still make good medals
  11. On the estate where I work, which covers about 4,000 acres there has been a huge drop in numbers, certainly seeing atleast 50% fewer rabbits . I was putting this down to the weather we had up here in the gorms over the winter, that was until I got a call from a farmer that had a fox problem during lambing, with me sorting this(luckly) on the first evening at the lambing field it led me to getting the rabbits and stalking too, happy days, the farm is 5 mile from me and about the same height above sea level, but the rabbit numbers here are un real, it's feckin moving with them, now why they seam
  12. I agree with what you typed in ur first sentence but, those you go on to describe that cull ALOT of good dogs in there hurried urge to get a world beater of a dog that most only desire to inflate there ego's ain't up to much , a man should be happy with a good dog, a one that tries it's best and gives 100%, not to get rid of it because it's not quite as good as the world beater that joe bloggs has or claims to have. There a animal, just like us, not a feckin machine...
  13. Quote from 243me ..You can treat the pen every year and hold it back, but all the ground outside the pen is infected as well so the birds will pick it up eventualy so be prepared and treat as required .... Too true!!!!!. moving the pen is the only way, I'd rather have less cover in a new pen than use a pen that had gapes last year, you can always take cover in to a new pen if needs be,granted the shortage of easy roosts In the pen is another pain, esecially if you have foxes around when the birds leave the pen as the birds will not have learnt to go up to roost and will just sit and roost on t
  14. That's the one he. Said today that they had gone up 30 odd quid, ouch!!! When I first saw it I laughed at the holding wire, it must be 5 or 6 times thicker than normal snare wire, but looking at it being set and what you see of it when it is set I must admit they look good, all you can see is the trigger.. Do you use the putty attractent? Or more natural baits? Have you had anything kink the wire yet? If so how many catches did you get off the one wire?? Sorry for the questions, curiosity in new bits of kit and all that
  15. A keeper next door to me has just bought a snaring device that's triggered by a baited plate, the snare is layed flat around the trigger plate, it was originally used for catching wild dogs. He set it yesterday with some supplied attractent putty, this morning he was greeted by a bouncing dog fox .. Happy days.. Any one else tried them ?? There steep at about £50 notes a piece, but if he carrys on as he has started it could well be worth the expence..
  16. I got mine through the post a few days ago..

    ticks

Easy to twist off with your fingers, I wouldn't use the hot match head, they may drop off but can only incouragr it to spew blood back into the dog.. Iv found the bigger hey are the easier it is to get them off..
  18. i think its about the right cross for the ground you hunt mate, also trying to get them as small as possible but not to small to keep up on foot. Trust me when beagle cross dogs go, you wont be keeping up on foot, in the past i have seen them more than once catch out in the open Id say the wee hounds are cheaper to keep, take alot less space to keep... these are the two main reasons id say
  19. Lol, i know where your at, do alot with the hounds around that way.. i know some one near there that could have helped you out with a red good trip none the less
  20. There must be more too it, if they raided you and didnt catch you out and about, and have still taken your dog then they must have something on you, as a carcase in the freezer, is far from enough to take your dog
