was sitting last night contemplating things after a day out with the hounds, generally mulling over how they went through the day etc, and i came across a thought that im stumped by..(easy i know) so heres a question, after hounds have broken up several times through a day, how the feck do they still manage to hunt up a freshly lifted fox when the whole pack are stinking to high heaven.. id dare say theres only a small handfull on here that have enough knowledge of scent to answer but heyho worth a go and all that

i had to read the topic title again, during reading the post i was thinking you were discribing the average scottish establishment..

My mate has one of those a mid-tone beagling horn, i about passed out blowing the fecker to get some hound's back at the weekend I thought that happened every time you blew? it did for me, esp with the cheap 50p peice of chineese shite i got mugged into buying offa fleabay one night a few years ago,lol.. the end of the horn came off in my hand when i pulled it out its saddle case, the mouth peice did the same when i tried sorting the first breakage, i just plain gave up when it started going green right infront of my eyes.... spend a few quid and youll avoid the all of the above..
-
Keats all the way, a quality horn that will last a life time, unless you slam it in a rover door, lol.. them cheap ones on e bay are made in china for about 50p...

How Early (in the morning) can you begin on the pigeons?
alimac replied to Steveclark's topic in Pigeon Shooting & Decoying
will garfit said to me always let them have a quick morning feed before you start decoying, didnt ask why, who was i to question him, lol.. -
You cant, as you say it can happen with either type of dog, no matter how good it is, a dog will miss quarry sooner or later.. to say because they only stir things up for a short time that they are no good at finding is rubbish. i rate my "yoyo" as a very good finder, iv had my other dogs check after its had a run through, like wise with him after another of the dogs has had a run through already.. i appriciate there not everyones cup of tea but to say they have no use at all in the terrier game is imo not right Earth " not to be confused with a bolting terrier "?? so what would you describ

I like to think i take mine fairly serious or i did i also like to think ive not walked over alot of place's scared to put a terrier in and that ive had faith and trust in the dog's ive kept over the year's, my opinion is a 10 minute wonder is a waste of kennel space and a waste of terrier box space on an outing what other purpose do they serve other than a depth finder half of them aint got the ball's to put something in a stopend anyway and like said above quarry doe's move while it find's it's way out and another dog entered,i would rather put a decent bayer mixer type straight in and get

walking past sport because you dont have a dogs for different jobs, i dont know what ever next?? a ten minute wonder in a dodgy spot is just what you need and iv seen countless results from situations like that, all sport you messers admit to walking on past.. more fool you
-
ffs i give up.........
-
how many spots are virgin holes that you do, most places have been tried before, but a little common sense also goes along way. but no you never do know for certain.
-
imo if you do a fair bit and travel about to work the dogs in different situations you will see the benifits of one, if you play in the same old local spots then you just wont get it no matter how hard anyone trys to explain.. so you keep thinking you have a dog thats suitable for every earth you come across, lol, idiots.. I wonder over the years how many decent digging dogs have been lost because there numb skull owners put there charges in totally un suitable places that was far more suited to a different style of working terrier. no i wouldnt breed for one, nore would i keep more than 1
-
yep honda, tough and take hard work day in day out
-
but having said that though, what about the times that it does go in and pop it straight out of the big/un diggable spot?, or finds and has its 10 minutes, comes out and you put a harder type in and you do dig it in the shallow spot of the earth that your 10 minute wonder found in? personally i keep one, and its worth it wait in gold to me, well nearlly lol, but any way i thought you lot that only keep "real dogs" liked a good 12 hour dig to test the dogs metal?? Fair enough statement but bear in mind not every terrierman has room in there kennels for all types of terriers, so like myse

one that has had 125 foxs that season and not got a mark on it will do well.. they always do , lol...

labtastic, hook it onto your towbar and pull it with your car/jeep. works a treat

suarez to me put his hand out there to be shaken, it was evra that had his hand down by his hip not lifting it as suarez passed. evra never seams to have a problem raising his hand to any other player.. imo he was very cute about trying to make suarez look bad... either way evras crack at the end is no better, he did it for one reason and that was to get a rise from suarez which like when he grabbed him at the start of the game, suarez did well to ignore it. its not evras fault if hes still got the mentality of a schoolkid.. and no im not a liverpool fan(nor man city before its said)

no danny your right i wouldnt let my kids out, its just not worth the risk, but my mate has a 3 year old called "wee man" that id reacon would take one on single handed, dodgey breeding espesially on the sires side though..
-
mate i take my hat off to you, im getting a kennel full off border crosses, i mean feckin hell if the thing can kill a mink (personally think its a minx cross) that was,and i quote, "that big your pal was afraid to let his kids out".. give me a shout if you bread a litta owt ov it happy hunting! or should that be "safe hunting"?
-
but as iv said danny you do care, im not trying to have a slanging match, im just showing you your error of your ways.. no terrier is up to handling a mink, im going to loose fecking sleep tonite thinking my terriers just aint up to it.. did it REALLY REALLY do it on its own?
-
but danny you do.. the dog in you picture couldnt do one either. FACT.. its hairy is that half border too??
-
Danny, i dont belive you either, and thats even with it being just half border. Bushing lad, i definatly dont believe you now.. terriers doing them, lol, this site gets more mad by the day.
-
bushing lad i dont reacon he did, theres just no way, minx are just too much for a decent terrier never mind a border.. but if he did, can i buy a pup, il start if off with a baby scottish one like in fishs photo..

well as my facebook newsfeed has been over loaded with the natives up here banging there drums, im wondering which u are this morning 1/ a rangers fan crying into there tea or 2/ a celtic fan bashing one out into his tea

The hounds love the horse shite, leave them too it and let them have there greens. they eat shite for a reason just like they do grasses etc in the spring summer.. it amazes me how many dog owners are fannys when it comes to a bit of shite..
