  1. Exactly! nets not essential if your dog can catch rabbits. You can also do without locator and spade if you're not in a rush and stick to small warrens If your dog isn't quick enough to catch bolters then I would say essential would be ferret, box or bag for ferret and a handful of purse nets....you'd be limited, but you'd catch
  2. I can't believe people are paying 25 quid for 3 meters of pipe! Sure, they might have fun playing in it but I bet mine have just as much fun playing in some odd bits of drain pipe, cardboard boxes, a climbing frame made out of branches and logs and a watering can! re. flexible tubing though, I've seen loads of it just discarded in skips or at the side of the road. I can guarantee if you shelled out on this tubing two days later you'd see a roll just slung in a hedge!
  3. My last two were rescue and worked OK eventually, although the hob took a fair amount of patience and perseverance to get going....my current three are all from working lines, one is yet to be started but the other two are already working to a higher standard than the rescues. Having said that, like Gin says, most rescues are escaped workers anyway....BUT, a ferreter who has a proper decent worker probably wouldn't leave it out in the field if he could help it. I would guess more people would give up on a poor/average worker if it were to do a disappearing act. A rescue could also very
  4. Instant coffee should be banned....how the hell that muck can even be described as coffee is beyond me!
  5. Incest. Its not unusual pal (starting to feel like Tom Jones this week!)......in the animal world that is, and your neck of the woods obviously ha ha
  6. Stately homes aside I don't think I've ever seen a garden that immaculate!!!
  7. that last pic is absolute class!!!
  8. possibly, I'm a bit reluctant to do that though as I used to have him with a spayed jill and he killed her.....I think the jill must have been fighting off his advances and he wasn't having any of it. He's basically a rapist and a murderer
  9. What are peoples experiences of housing two in tact hobs that are not litter mates? I've got two jills and a hob, the hob has been on his own all summer due to them all being in season. I intended on getting them neutered but both jills are showing real promise and I have quite high hopes for the hob aswell so I don't want to get any of them neutered. So for a bit of company over the summer months I'm thinking of getting another hob to live with my hob. I once had two hobs and they were a pain in the ass for fighting, I've deliberately avoided having two hobs ever since. Do they genera
  10. Another quality post from Rob Its an odd question though, its hardly like they're doing backflips or juggling their dishes.....things lie down, it's really not that unusual!
  11. You're asking why they lie down? Why do you lie down?
  12. The only reason I ask is because the differences I've heard of are mostly negative...i.e. More kills/digs, shy coming out of the hole etc. IMO a good ferret does what is needed perfectly, so I struggle to understand how something that must do the job less well would be preferable....unless somehow the do the job better....I'm interested to here how and what. I can see where a micro ferret would have its uses where a normal sized ferret might cause problems (i.e.under buildings/rock piles etc) but struggling to see a situation where a polecat would give any advantage over a ferret.
  13. How do they work differently to ferrets pal? What is it you like about their style?
  14. Bored now...if you're not going to report him for the strimmer incident then just accept that you're going to get a fine for throwing coffee on him, end of!
  15. How did the collies do for you pal?
  16. Can it not fit through the gate? yeah it'll fit through the gate....that's why they have to lift it over
  17. The Face the Facts programme on BBC Radio 4 at 12.30 today will ask "The RSPCA - A law unto itself?” Worth a listen if you are able to tune in.
