terriers and there noses???
kevin kiely replied to 321charlie's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
i think its jrt but dont know bout plummers never seen em work but a few will prob say them -
granted they are not the hardest to kill but the point i think is that the dog has to do a few a week every season for all his working life and some dogs that CAN kill foxes might in time shy away or be reluctant to go ahead and strike if he knows what its like to be bitten from previous experiences or having been entered incorrectly true but but the same can be said about a bull cross tho?? dont get me wrong i love bull crosses they are everything i like in a dog but ive seen dogs of all types take foxes week in week out it depends on every individual dog and owner ur right other cr

kenneling dogs together
kevin kiely replied to kieran c's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
how it gin kieran.they could be fine and then a years time you might go out and find one dead mate especially that type of dog,two terrier dogs will fight especialy if there is anything to fight over.id put a bit of wire to half the run and sort out a second bed plus youl have piece of mind, they dont need loads of space if they are being worked -

That was my logic too Poach, many years ago when I turned on to Bull blood. It was just to damn hard to raise a Lurcher pup, out of tried and tested fox dogs, only to see it fall short, sometimes way short, of its parentage. That was back then though, way back, before this god awfull ban, it was all about foxes, foxes in numbers. It's heart breaking to put all your efforts into something, for so long, build up your hopes and it fails. With Bull blood, the right Bull blood the odds were much greater. All that said though and the two best fox dogs i've ever seen had no bull blood in 'em, j

if you want a working dog your first priority isnt to improve a show line, you are dilutind working blood with show blood if thats the case why did i have good digging border terriers that was bred off show stuff.was it look i guess not its what you put into them the way i look at it.you get crap dogs thats bred off worker to worker as you do from show stuff to show stuff.the way i look at it if a dog has faults how are you to breed them out of it and its not breed to back to dogs with faults as it will never improve the breed. its naive to think putting the same time and effort into show

if you are crossing these to dogs mate wouldnt that meen you are improving the blood line as you are putting working blood into show blood, the way i look at it what ever faults the show stuff has you are improving it with the working side.just my oppinion but thats how it looks to me atb mate if you want a working dog your first priority isnt to improve a show line, you are dilutind working blood with show blood
