My dad got reported by one of his neighbours across the road for animal cruelty a couple years ago. He has 2 lurchers that have the run of the house and are in great nick, although one of them is quite old now. They are taken to work with him and everything and are really loyal dogs. Plenty of exercise etc. Now some bitch over the road reported him for animal cruelty as the dogs sometimes bark or howl a bit when he leaves them alone. So the inspectors came round. Couldnt find a single thing and had to leave, nothing more has been done about it. f*****g piss-take like I f*****g hate

Yep its all play, part of there growing up in strength and confidence. With regards to ferret training, its unnecessary. Just keep them fit and if you have any pipes or anything suitable let them run through it etc. But the hunting part comes naturally. Dont expect too much from them at first but they catch on dead quick! Within a few outings they'll be pretty good hunters usually.

Bloody hell Islam seems a hot topic on here recently maybe we should change it to www.thepoliticallife.com

Well done for taking it in albeit temporarily. Some people are twats like I cant believe some of the stuff that goes on!

An hour and a half well spent! Well done Myself i made my box out of a big wooden breadbin with a lot of modifications! It does the job but Im going to make a nice new (possibly bowback) one with 3 compartments for this coming season.

I had a blackbird similar to that without quite as much white on it visit my back garden every morning. Stunning bird and it was a visitor for a couple of years. Havent seen it since my next door neighbour cut down the tree that overhung my garden that it usually sat in. Ive got a picture of it (in the tree) in my mobile phone but Ive lost the lead to connect it to the computer so I cant upload it sorry.

My ferrets are in hutches at the moment but im after one of those big hutch/run combo type things because now I have more ferrets. Last season I had 2 ferrets- a hob and a jill and they were both in a medium to large size hutch together. In the springtime when I seperated them i built 1 new larger sized hutch so they could have 1 each during the breeding season etc. But now I have 3 kits on top of this pair so the hutches are overcrowded, well one of them, so i will be buying a new large hutch/run similar to THIS. So after i get that I will have 3 jills in the big run and a hob each

My experience of poles is that they are willing to do tasks that british people would feel beneath them. For example I know of poles who pick up litter from around the edge of a waste disposal site for a living. I know one of them used to be a security guard over in poland and worked enormous long hours in a dangerous job (he had to have a gun at all times) and is paid better living here and being paid minimum wage to pick up litter. What gets me is the fact that he works for an agency charging around 20 quid an hour for his time and his colleagues yet the poles themselves get about 5.50 of

I agree entirely ! Sorry if you thought I was disagreeing before too I was just elaborating on my first post. Cheers

Good point that you made ferret15. However I did state that he should maybe try her out first and see how she copes. And obviously thurso jack wouldnt even try her without being pretty certain she was back to full strength and energy. My jill has been away from the kits weeks now and has just had to be brought out of season again by a snipped hob. But I still wouldnt use her for now because I know my own ferrets and i know she still isnt back to normal. All I am saying is that thurso jack should be able to have a good guess at when she will back to normal as its his ferret.

Good on you! Seriously that is good work stalling them theyd have hung up the phone on me after I told them what I was planning on doing to them You had me worried reading that Im really glas you got it back and the priks got caught. Hope the justice system doesnt let us down and that these b*****ds got to jail.
-
You know your own ferrets better than anyone else mate so when you think she is ready the chances are she will be. What i mean by that is that they all return to normal at a different rate but if like you say she is back to her normal self I would give her a try. Dont get your hopes up too much for a full day out of her or whatever just put her down and see how she fares and theres every chance she'll have full stamina again, but if not leave her a week or two and try again. but Im sure she'll be fine. Hope this helps mate. I had the same predicament as you a few weeks ago needed to

In that case there should be an entry on the ballot paper for "none of the above"

Crow: Post of the week very interesting. I read an article a month or 2 ago in bbc wildlife magazine about the black footed ferret being reintroduced over there as they are endangered now because of a lack of prey due to habitat being built on etc. Very interesting it was and the article also made it quite clear that these arent like our ferrets at all, and only due to reading that article had I actually heard of them !

the water bottles have gone that colour with age they are about 10 years old,one of the peculiarities of plastic perhaps? 10 years? Bloody hell your lucky! Mine go green after about 2 days sunlight

Im very very tempted to buy one of these... However does it not seem a bit strange the fact that they arent even in stock yet but we can buy them? Its probably the case that the seller is using the all the buyers money to purchase the order from the manufacturer. jultaylor: did you buy this item from the same seller? Were they in stock when you ordered it or was it a similar "pre-order" setup? Any problems at all? Sorry for all the questions I just hate parting with my hard earned unless Im sure! But if I get good feedback from someone on here Ill be treating the ferts (well the j

Them polecats look like belters mate hope they do well for you. I know someone with a polecat but shes had him castrated so no good to breed with now but hes tame as can be. He was hand reared at a nature reserve before she got it, hes the real mccoy too. Think Ill stick to ferrets myself though but best of luck with them
