  1. The original and best way to get any kind of hunting permission is to knock on doors mate. Once you have permission from one farmer it is easier to get permission because you can go to nearby by farms and say "I was just wondering if you had anyone controlling your rabbits, as I control farmer browns and would be happy to help you out". Or that kind of thing anyway. Even if 10 people say no just keep trying, sometimes the most unlikely looking places will just about tear your arm off once you give them the offer of free pest control! Good luck!
  2. I control the rabbits on a golf course up the road from me. Both the guy in charge of the golf course and the head greenkeeper are VERY thankful for my services. However, you are right if you think that some people will try and give you a hard time. One time I was ferreting a warren right near the club house when some guy came up and asked me what I was doing. I told him I was ferreting and he started walking towards me asking me what I was doing on the golf course. Anyway he soon turned about when I told him who had given me permission. No apology or anything just an "oh" and he walke
  3. Great pics mate thanks for sharing! Looks like you had a good day. Good looking bitch too! And its all the better because you got paid for it! Cheers!
  4. What a result mate Good going! I wish there was somewhere I could go and get 10 rabbits per 1 hole! Some of the time I dont even get 1 rabbit per 10 holes! Great start to the year, keep it up!
  5. Good morning poaching indeed  Your jill has went for the kill zone which is a good sign she means business when shes down there! All the best
  6. Well done mate Its great to see the kids getting involved! Best of luck with your new ferret and hobby too!
  7. Great when things work outout the way you want aint it Good luck on your new permission mate And when the time comes next spring you can say "well its too warm to ferret now but if you want the rabbits kept under control ive got a rifle...."
  8. Good going mate Good old scottish rain wrecked my ferreting trip this morning! Didnt even lay a net just did a reccy on some new ground. Hopefully if its a bit dryer tomorrow Ill be back. Well done for keeping going!
  9. Good going mate. Nice looking ferrets. Some good size rabbits there, should keep the ferts and dogs fed for a while :thumbs-up:
  10. I did a bit of ferreting to my mates gun on his permission last weekend. Even though it was his permission he knew the score that under no circumstances was he to take a shot at a rabbit before it was clear of the warren and running. This meant we only got 2 rabbits out of about half a dozen bolters because the nearest cover was very nearby to most of the warrens we did! But I would rather not catch anything than risk a dead ferret
  11. I prefer the morning myself, I try to get there no later than 8-9 oclock. But Ive been in a panic when its been getting dark digging out a ferret before. Its not a good situation !
  12. Good going mate pity about the rain though. I hope your other jill comes on eventually mate, sometimes the dopiest of ferrets can all of a sudden switch on. Well done for giving her a good chance though And if she doesnt work out you can get rid with a clear conscience because you will know for sure she wouldnt earn her keep.
  13. Think you might want to edit that link mate it points to a dog training thread.
  14. Good shooting sir Hoping to get an AA s410 myself one day. Gunna start saving after christmas maybe.
  15. Great read that mate. Looks like you had a good days ferreting Thats happened to me too many times recently, Ive got to within 6 inches of the ferret and its moved out of the warren! On saturday I cut down half a holly bush so I could get in to dig only for the ferret to move on before I'd started digging! So from now on I will wait a while depending on the depth of the mark

    Animal rescue

My aunt used to have a jackdaw that had lost a wing and coudnt fly which she nursed back to health. The bird lived for about 10 years after that it lived in the house and used to sit on a branch on top of its cage all day hopping from branch to branch and go back into the cage at night. It became really tame, especially with my aunt.
