  1. I agree with phill. 5 1/2 months is still very young. When you take him out with other dogs, just think of him as a friend you've invited along to see your dogs work. Give him time and he will be fine.
  2. The video clip is from "working days". Simon had been invited by the two guys for a days ferreting with their ferrets. The guy holding the toothless ferret said he got the ferret from a rescue place. Hope that clears it up!
  3. Well done mate,nice shooting!
  4. Great pics guys! Keep at it.
  5. Thats a really nice pup you have! Great pics.
  6. Great pics mate. Nice to see the girls out! All the best for 2013.
  7. Hi Slipper, I would simply get a pup the same sex as your lurcher. I prefer dogs just because they don't come into season , not because I think they are harder workers. You can get realy hard going bitch or a soft dog. It's personal choice. If you google spaniel training there are lots of books and dvds out there. Ian Openshaw does a good dvd. Hope this helps.
  8. Nice pic mate, good shooting!
  9. Looks like you had fun! Great pics, thanks for shareing!!
  10. Tony Price of tawnyhill gundogs is in kent, have a look at his web site. DVDs are good for a beginer as you can see what the trainer is doing other than trying to picture it in your head from a book. Ian openshaw does some good dvd and the Buccleuch Gundogs, springer spaniel training series are good. These are in stock at uttings.co.uk. Hope this helps and the best of luck with your pup!!

    first longnet

I have 1 4Z brown 50 yard, 2 6Z green 50 yard, 2 6Z 25 yard, and 2 10Z 5 yard, stop / hedge nets. 100 yards of net will usually circle a warren, then I will put 1 or 2 of the 25 yarders across the warren, or run a 50 yarder up the middle in a zig zag to catch hole hoppers. 4 or 6Z is up to you, they will both catch rabbits. If I was going to have 1 net it would be 50 to 100 yards in 4Z. Good luck.
  12. Nice pics mate, and well done Ted!

Well done mate, looks like you had fun!
  14. Great write up and pics! Well done mate.
  15. Hi mick20, I've found in 36 years of ferreting, that rabbits are more reluctant to bolt on windy days. Maybe it's the noise of the wind blowing across the burrow, or scent, I don't know. If it's windy I get more digs. It's strange that this happens,as stealthy1 said, you wouldn't think it would matter with a ferret nipping it's arse!!
  16. Well done mally! That's what it's all about.
  17. Good luck mate. I hope you have a great day. I feed my ferrets the night before. Any ferret, given the chance, will kill a rabbit if it's hungry or not. As already said a well fed ferret is less likely to lay up. I also take the water bottle off their hutch with me so they can have a drink. Even if its cold out, it's still dry and dusty down the warren.
  18. Well done mate. Nice pics.
  19. Well done monte! I have an fx3 and they are a great bit of kit.
