  3. Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Well no, it can't be, the yeast has only gone in Got 25 litres of Lidl cloudy apple juice and youngs cider yeast fermenting away behind me. Can I hold out

  6. Well folks, Mechanic reckons my car is not worth fixing, mostly down to it's age, condition, recent engine issues which are making it unreliable I pretty much agree. So, I'm on the look out for a new second hand car I drive about 15k miles / 24k km a year. That's 99.5% R (regional - shoddy) and N (national - crap) road driving. Motorway hasn't yet reached Connemara and I rarely travel beyond Galway city. Current car is a 99 Mazda 323 1.4 something I believe. I've been advised to go for a Toyota Avensis 1.6 petrol from 03-09, purely on reliability and low cost of maintenan
  7. All very well securing your house, but how would you survive long term? Food, water etc: we'd be like the prey we hunted, constantly alert and looking for danger everywhere we went: I don't think that most modern civilised societies would stand the strain of living like that. People aren't used to being as wary as a fox wherever they go. The 'living' population would be down to about 1% in very little time at all, and I think that any group that did survive would have to remain fairly small or its needs would overwhelm the numbers of people very quickly. I love post-apocalyptic fiction:
  8. Jeez John, that's being a bit harsh on zombies isn't it?
  9. My girlfriend go Lymes disease, first tick that ever bit her would you believe (city girl!). It's something that none of ye want to get, I've seen it in action. Luckily she spotted the bullseye bruise and got the proper course of meds, and after a month or six weeks of hell she recovered.
  10. Visit Ireland instead and forgo all the associated bullshit to do with visiting Scotland

  15. Well then, did I miss much?
  16. Well, it's stopped raining - probably just until I go out the door - so I'm off to move some seaweed, enjoy the game folks.

  21. They had a special on mince beef today (well, Supervalu's beef special was better but I was too lazy to go there). Got all the bits and pieces while I was there. Have cooked them before thanks to the recipe on the Bord Bia website. I cooked the Italian Fritatta last night, unfortunately no photo as I singed it a little towards the end, only superficial and got good reviews!
