  1. old boy on the allotments emptys his porta loo onto it once a week -- and not just piss that cant be good whats his veg like, bet he cant give it away I have heard of urine being used as a activator in compost. We even had a teacher, English by the way , who drank a glass of his own urine in class. I can't quite remember what the point of that exercise was but no one was keen on hearing what the homework was going to be for that lesson. On the brown stuff, I certainly wouldn't do that. I know there are restrictions on land spreading sewerage, something to do with heavy metals
  2. How well/badly would a cheapie garden shredder (probably off Ebay, in or around €100) deal with newspaper/cardboard? The mind numbingly boring bit would be manually shredding the newspaper/cardboard.
  3. I was thinking the exact same thing!!!
  4. Tests out how good Ukrainian carpenters are?
  5. Got to say, Italy should be well ahead.
  6. England will beat Italy, they're nothing special.
  7. Thanks JJ, I've just read that on Google, trust me to go looking for the slimy, smelly option lol! Managed right it seems to do OK though.
  8. I'm going to give it a go, haven't a bulls notion how it'll turn out but I'm going to go looking for grass clippings to start me off (organic four legged lawnmowers take care of my grass), newspaper or cardboard will help too, throw in some seaweed maybe.
  9. All I want is to have my cake and eat it, surely that's not too much I hadn't thought of the heras fencing, I'll need to see how available it is in my area. Still got the problem of the floor mind. Reason I'd like to have the run movable is I've seen my friends run and it's black muck! I don't want that.
  10. OK, I'm happy enough with this so far, I know not being there every day isn't the happiest situation, can't be avoided however. A thought struck me. A secure run for the birds, keep charles, mr. mink, etc. away from them. But, can one be made which is moveable I wonder, more to the point do I have enough level ground for it (Yes, ground is that bumpy/rocky/hilly). Keeping with that, for days I'm not there, would a floor made out of 1"x1" weldmesh harm the birds feet? I ask as a fox/badger digging under the run would be my main concern, Day's I'm around I'd be happy enough to let them
  11. Problem being I am not home every day of the week. I could be gone a day or two each week. So how do I get around this and get to keep my hens, and keep them well and properly. I am hesitant to ask others to help out, so for the moment lets rule that out, when I can I like to do things myself. Planning to keep them on my farm, for eggs at first, but I'd like to get some broilers at some stage *licks lips*. Suggestions please folks
  12. Yeah, they're "lenticels" alright. I didn't do a huge amount of looking into what they are, they act like pores for the spuds. Google will give you more info on them than I can right now
  13. England to win until they meet Germany. Germany to win until they meet Spain. Spain to beat everyone.
  14. Done a little looking up, I think the white dots are called "lenticels" and act like pores for the spuds. Or it's a horrible disease, lol.
  15. Problem, or not? White dots on me tubers! I think there were white dots on the stalks as well but can't quite remember.
  16. The sun is finaly shining on us Ze Germans and the Spanish are waiting in the long grass.
  17. Your ears get bigger and hairy, your nose gets wet, you start growing hooves and go bonkers, have you any of those?
  18. P-p-p-p-p-ick up a pigeon
  19. Thank God that's over.
  20. Try Diamond hill in Connemara National Park. They even built a walk way part way up!
  21. they used to be a guided walk of the 12 bens called the horse shoe i think. it took about 8 hours to do.dont know if they still do it, but would be worth looking into if thats what your into. the views are unbeliveable. I've climbed a lot of them, Mweelrea (highest in Connacht), Glencoaghan horseshoe, Ben Baun (highest in Galway) across Benbrack to Kylemore Abbey, Muckanaght and Ben Cullagh most of the Maumturks and a few other smaller hills as well. The Turks are a lot easier to walk than the Bens as the Turks tend to be flatter on top, so, once yer up, yer up. The scree I came a
  22. Hope you went to Olivers after (To be pedantic, you're well "in" Connemara there).
