  1. I cant see that six and a half would be too low with that length of grass.Your problem there is that you have set your snare on a run that is NOT straight. You must have three beats in a straight line and set on the middle beat if you want to reduce you snares getting slipped like the one in the pic.Stick at six and a half and find the three beats and you will be well rewarded....P&G.....

  6. Some very good points there snareman. The trouble this country has is the so called experts who are supposedly leading the way as far as fox snaring goes actually know very little when it comes to trapping out in the field in all weather conditions and various different ground. The people in this country want to think themselfs very lucky they have the likes of old Glenn Waters keeping the snare as legal means of fox control. To be honest i dont know how i would manage without the fox snare.........P&G

  9. There are many many farms where there are problems with foxes where there are no earths and this is where the wires come into there own.Couple of years ago i got a call out to a 50 acre small holding where a farmer had lost 12 lambs in a week.I set 30 odd wires around the place and took 28 foxes in 3 weeks.I lamped the place maybe a dozen times over that period and only shot 3 foxes. This shows the value of wires in professional hands well done colin and ratcherman........
  10. well done trev those holders certainly work well who made them for you
  11. I cant see anything wrong with that snare set up myself
  12. 92 out of 100 pegged wires about seven yrs ago.Had 70s-80s hundreds of times out of 100 pegged wires.Would love to get old snareman, woodga, teejay and myself with 500 pegged wires each on a good black, windy, winters night and see what we kill.......P@G
  13. Set your fenn in a tunnel along just about any hedge back in the country and you will pick up the odd weasel. You can use bait in cold weather but not in warm weather as it goes off too quick.Personally i like to see the little caracters hunting the mice and voles......P@G

  16. Just a quick word to thank Snareman of this site for the box of pegged and fence wires and drum of brass that he very kindly sent down to me in time for a very big rabbit job ive got to do with TeeJay off this site.....Thanks Snareman...........P@G......
  17. If you want to keep charlie off your rabbits tie your snares to a 4 foot 3/4" thick length of hazel instead of a peg then when the rabbit gets caught it pulls the stick to the hole and you come along and pull the snared rabbit out and kill him. Before you do this buy a large wheel barrow to carry 150-200 hazel sticks in and make sure that there is no fences brash os other obsticles between your snaring position and the holes lol.Another warriner trick thats totally useless to a real rabbit snarer. There is no way of keeping charlie off your snared rabbits except to kill him.You do get alot les
  18. Glenn i could do with about 500 four strand snares sending down as soon as possible and a couple of ten pound spools of copper wire if possible mate.Your gear will be in the post first thing in the morning Glenn, and see what you can do about those wires as ive got a really big job on and ill be using only 4 stranders........P@G.....
  19. Well done you two another brace in the bag.Wish ide of joined you instead of shooting all those mallard rabbits and hare lol.WEll done the pair of you.....P@G
  20. Ive caught 100`s of hares in 4 strand snares and had few brakes as long as you use them with hoops or bricks and on fences with the method i have devised....P@G...... Remember those 4 stranded copper wires you gave me Snareman about 15 years ago.I used them for years on hoops and caught many 100`s of rabbits using them.I wouldnt mind a spool of that copper wire....P@G
  21. Got to disagrea there mate, ducks much prefer barley than wheat and will leave a wheat fed pond to visit a barley fed pond every time.Stick to barley mate...P@G well peg id agree that they prefere barley , but disagree that if you feed it with wheat you will see noticeably less ducks flighting in to feed, compared to numbers coming in when being fed barley the season [bANNED TEXT]... but you have me thinking now, as soon as the barley is cut im going to do some playing about with feed types on different ponds (that are all being fed wheat at the moment) and see which ponds draw ducks f
