  1. hello they sound like nice pups have you got a number i can phone you on?
  2. all the traps mensioned do the job but to what standard depends on the guy using them.Skissor traps have less metal and when digging the trap bed out you make less disdurbence than with the duffus. On the other hand you can take two moles in a duffus and only one in a skissor.i use them both for alsorts of different situations for example skissor traps are very difficult to use on a drilled field or on sausage runs but are very useful on deep tunnels so in my opinion they all take moles as good as each other as long as the trapper is compadent...P&G
  3. Hi all,a very interesting post and to be honest i can see both sides.Personally i very much doubt that snares and body grip traps(and fenns in spring and summer) can ever be matched for controlling large numbers of rabbits.BUT this totally depends on the experience and skill of the trapper.Traps and snares in the hands of a beginner are less than useless and i think thats were the confussion about the best methods comes in.Armed with no more than 100 pegged wires over a week period ive taken over 600 large winter rabbits.I can do this week in week out as can a few other people on this site.Wha

    HARE NET.

Yet another nice job M.T.Can i ask why you dont use the toggle style of gate net that i use which i find far better than the mini long net style as the net purses the hare giving it no chance of a bounce off,ive also noticed you have your pins laying back at a slight angle and was just wondering why this was as a large number of rabbits in a long net may put strain on the pins and could pull them over.I set mine straight as this way there is far less strain on the pins when i get a good kill in the net...Thanks..P&G
  13. Nice job mistnet and as netrigger said the right mesh size to take winter rabbits...Thanks..P&G
  14. As dark as possible (darkness is more important than wind), and a nice stiff breeze in your face then your net poles will be strianing to hold the rabbits up.Go on a moon light night or even a half moon and you will struggle unless you can find any blind sets.I dont bother unless its good and dark if at all possible...thanks..P&G
  15. Your trouble is the rabbits wont walk over the net laid on the ground. The rabbit is a cute animal thats why hes such a good serviver. You notice all other nets used in this fashion are drop nets. There are two reasons for this, firstly as ive said they wont walk over the net and secondly if left long enough the rabbits would chew holes all over the net.I admire you for trying though all the best...P&G
  16. Yeh we were out last night. The full moon hampered us alot but we stell bagged 36 rabbits and got a bit more footage on camara. The best drop was 19 which was a blind set.David came with me and catapiller and i think he enjoyed his 1st time out with the nets i think he will be back out with the long nets pretty soon ...Thanks..P&G
  17. Nice to see people practicing the art good bag well done...P&G
  18. Hi Peg, I have a 100 yard hemp net with 4 1/2" mesh and it's only got 140 yards of net in it which is the relationship between a mesh pulled tight and one open. It stops them dead, hardly a bounce off, but I got ridiculed on here for using it. Keep us posted. ian. [/quote I still dont think you can beat a good quality hemp net Ian.I think you can go to 4 3/4" mesh no problem because of the lack of stretch in the hemp as appossed to the stretch on a nylon net which as you know has alot of stretch in it.I find that with the larger mesh size you get less dammage do your nets due to rabbits chew
  19. Ive got a brand new 7 litre air bottle with gage and has just been filled. This bottle is onle 2months old and ill take £100 for it,no offers as its just cost me £150.I live near Middlesbrough and buyer collects...Pm me if interested thanks...P&G
  20. Yeh the bagging i take the time and count the meshes into each two yard pocket which helps the net sit perfectly. The two end poles need to be pushed well into the ground and set vertical so that the rest of the net automatically site right and the top rope is tight then you finnish off with the last pole which fully tentions the hole net....Thanks...P&G
  21. I know wat you mean Fat ferret but no all my nets are set on poles 8yards apart and tied in every two yards the way old SNAREMAN designed the system many years ago.The secret to taking big numbers in your 100 yard nets is your 1st and last poles. If you make sure they are set properly the rest of the net will stand up to large numbers of rabbits. On the last drop me and my son done the other night there was 8 rabbits caught between two poles and that happens regularly. You can use ancher pins if you want but i find it unnessesery if you set the net correctly....P&G
