  2. Sounds to me like you need some one to service your boiler,You wont fix that your self.!
  3. Here`s a few reasons i can think of,some have already been said.Whippets are not stupid, readly use there noses,Will have a go at anything,But are handicaped by there size,A crosss with the greyhound brings up the size, with out becoming to big, and most importantly for lads that like to see a dog that runs its quarry at electric pace,You might call it do or die. There is no dilution of the speed.Personally i love to watch these dogs run,You might be home earlier, but every run would have been exciting. So while a whippet might be a rabbit specialist, cross it with a greyhound, you will get sport w
  4. DO YOU WANT ME TO COME OVER WITH MY BULL CROSS
  5. Nice to see some pictures of the dogs working,Helps convince the wife we do actually have room for another dog(cute little sausage dogs)! Are there any names that you should be looking for in breeding of the dog,ie Stud dogs that throw working pups, any particaler kennels renound for workers, or to advoid. Thanks
  6. you do get teckel that are "big in the chest" as with alot of terrier breeds. most are bred to standard(spanable) and will work individually ( not just in pack.this is a part of the trials for breeding selection and so not breed typical) on all game/vermin. as i have said before they are the smallest hounds limited only by short legs( bred down to slow the chase of deer and boar). i'm afraid i don't know anyone who breeds them in the uk you could try "teckelclub1888e.v." (german teckel club e-mail address). atb waidmann Earths around here can run very tight, would need to be spanable.
  7. ae y kiding? they are fabulous earth dogs, we use them on fox and badgers. some of them are extremly sharp, rough coated ones. Would you be using miniture or standard,Do there ears take much damage.
  8. Thanks fo the replys lads,Could any one point me in the direction of some one breeding from working teckels in the uk,via pm if you like.
  9. They look a lot less obvious,Thats important as far as im concerened.
  10. Thanks for the reply, any chance of a bit more information.
  11. As already been said i wouldnt even think of breeding a litter till6,Because then i know the dog has done all i need,(been tested). Also older bitch`s have smaller litters.
  12. Well lads just wondering, has any one seen a tekel working fox below ground,Would you consider them serious earth dogs, would they stay with a stroppy fox this time of year.I would have thought they were the perfect shape and size for earth work.Whats your thoughts.
  13. Theres a pet shop in kendal, They have a lot of rabbits, hamsters too.
  14. Legends are made in books and magazines,Good workers are made in the fields!
  15. This could get confusing,even i thought i had started a topic.
  16. I used one this season and lamped all night, with a blazerlite. You can get 3 or 4 2hour sessions out of it,and carry a extra rabbit or 2.There good.
  17. Yes straight cross,as i say just lacks that top gear.
  18. That is a Very Nice Looking Bitch, Are you in touch with any of the owners of litter brothers and sisters, ?? As you said she`s only just clicked with some quarry.... I was just wondering is this a genral trait for this cross or just a one off with your bitch... Yis Mars.... Yes the ones i know of,were doing the excact same, catching but no interest in killing,Now straight for throat.
  19. Heres a picture of mine, useful to have around, lacks a bit of pace, great nose and drive.Good feet.Just turned one in that picture,She will be 3 this year.I would say works more like a collie cross than a bull cross, though only just clicked on some quarry.
  20. Iwould agree with bird, most of mine stop at some point, just get sick of it(retreiving), I had one like yours no interest in balls ect, so i got a soft toy like a rabbit even had a white tail, 100 foot of string looped around a stick 75 foot away so when pulled the rabbit went away from me, this got her interest it took a week for her to get the game, then i would do it once a day, no lamping untill she was retreiving it every time and looked to be enjoying it, then only one rabbit per session, For the rest of season. That dog has retrieved every one since.Doing the same with another one this s

  22. Im sure lads on here wont believe this but the other night i caught 2 big strong rabbits Was going to try for 3 but the dog was too exhausted, maybe in a couple of weeks when the dogs recovered from such hard work and if its not to cold i will try for the massive "3"
  23. Im no pervert,But would love to see a picture of the mating russel tied on to greyhound.lol
  24. It will only get worse now with the NWCU(national wildlife crimes unit) promising to bring up poaching on the police's priority, This being backed by the big organisations,BASC,ect.Just read a article in a shooting magazine, all about this subject, according to it reports of hare and deer poaching are up 70% this year,I wonder are land owners keepers calling the police with a serious crime(deer)Instead of "there's a lad catching rabbits"?I agree with strong stuff to many knobs ruined it for every one Else.
