  1. Nice to see different type of dogs out and about. Are they Kennel Club type dogs? Iv'e only ever seen some in a local park (pets) - and they looked quite fat and lumbering specimens with very short legs and feet like fists and claws and red droopy eyes. What is their hunting technique? Are they able to move at much speed and for very long? Do they corner what they find or would they 'get stuck in'? thanks
  2. Personally, I don't think being a Christian is at the heart of the matter - I am totally unreligious but I do feel strongly that it is wrong for these people who are not committed to joining in the British - not Christian - way of life to expect to get all the benefits of living here and imposing their values on us. They should go elsewhere - especially the ones who were born here but derived from immigrant stock who feel it is their right to carry out terrorist atrocities, such as bombing public transport etc etc.
  3. Whippetboy - just out of interest, is that you and your dog in the avatar? It is a bit small to see clearly but it looks like a fox on the ground? Is the same dog in question and what is the story behind the despatch of the fox?
  4. You might be better off with a cage for the back of your vehicle mate. They keep your dog more secure in that they can do less mischief -like ripping out the electric wires etc to entertain themselves when left alone in your vehicle (speaking from expensive personal experience there ) you can order them off internet or petshops and they fold down easily when not needed.
  5. Anyone watching this now? First time I saw it I thought oh oh - another Deliverance! Theres scary people in them thar woods - watch out!
  6. My dog had a smallish one on his neck - he couldn't really reach it to scratch or traumatise it. It got bigger over about 6 months and then it got a bit infected and discharged itself. It is pretty well invisible now - but it was just quite a small one.
  7. Thanks for all your replies - it looks like fleas are the problem. I've shampooed the other dog now, washed the floors with bleach and dusted the floor and settees etc with flea powder that I found at the back of the dog cupboard and binned their bedding. Thank god I have no carpets! My dog has very sensitive skin and I am amazed that he does not seem to be affected at all - he's 8 now but when he was bitten by fleas as a pup his skin had raw patches and he was as cross as hell! It also cost me £35 back then for a 30 second consultation with a vet. Iv'e had no problems until now but it ju
  8. A lot of prejudice on there about a lot of society - gypsies, the Irish, the Military, blood thirsty dogs...........
  9. I noticed my bitch biting at the top of her tail and trying to scratch herself along the wall. On closer inspection under her coat (she has a thick rough coat) it looked like she had been sprinkled with black pepper across her 'rump' and the top of her tail down in her coat, close to her skin. Her skin does not look broken or red. The black bits felt gritty. What I would like to know is would this be a sign of fleas? My other dog, who has a smooth coat does not seem affected, he had fleas when he was a pup and had quite a severe reaction, his skin was raw and he went bald where he was bitte
  10. That dog may need to learn his place in the home - as the lowest of the low. Sure he is ok with other dogs - they sort it out among themselves - if he gets his ass kicked by another dog no harm is done really - that's dogs for you. If he bites someone in public or a visitor to your home or one of your kids then it gets much more serious. Good advice was given about making him work for his food - follow it and do no allow it to climb on the furniture or get over excited by the kids - little dogs are 'cute' until they show their colours. I do not beleive in harshly physically punishing dogs
  11. I honestly think that all 'hobby/interest' type magazines tend to be a bit repetative after a year or so - articles relating to times of the year come and go in cycles. I think they are interesting at first but when you see the similar articles starting to repeat you soon lose interest. After a while I found myself reading the headlines and looking at the pictures but not actually reading the articles. Also regarding the ads sections - it's good to know the latest commercial developments/inventions etc but how much stuff (dogs included) does one need? I find sites like this much more intere
  12. How long have you had that pup and what steps have you taken to socialize it? Maybe he needs to get out and about a bit more but it's bad news if he is biting folks. Do you have any more dogs at home? Have you owned dogs before?
  13. Disgusting. I know a lot of people who say canabis is 'only harmless and recreational' but when i hear it is inloved in a case like this it sets alarm bells ringing. The bit that really disturbs me is that others stood by and did nothing! I think a bit of 'social justice' is called for there.
  14. Hope your first day went ok, sometimes worriyng about things beforehand make things seem worse that what they actually turn out. Also, i think if you have not been used to mixing much with people in a work environment much recently, since you gave up your job, you lose the social skills of chatting and just generally getting along with others, especially people you are meeting for the first time. You are so young with so many options, look around - you may see something else you could see yourself doing to earn your crusts....
  15. Glad to hear you wee boy got his dogs back. Parhaps the sh**ebags who stole them got wind of what was coming their way if they didn't turn up
  16. Are you not embarrassed to admit to that?
  17. Hey Magpie - are you running for election?
  18. I went to see a live show of that Derek Acorah bloke with a mate of mine last year in Belfast. I'd never heard of him before, I just went because my mate wanted to go. I can say it was S"$&* of the highest order.
  19. Black Bush Irish Whiskey. The smell of horses warm breath when they have been eating grass.
  20. Your'e worried because these dimwits have dogs? I find it even more frightening that they probably have kids.....EEEK!!!!!! What does the future hold?
  21. I think anyone who lets ANY dog run out of control, especially in such a public place as a beach in summer, is irresponsible. So the dogs allegedly ripped up a poodle (some may snigger that the likes of poodles deserve to be ripped up, each to their own) but what would peoples attitude be if it were a herd of sheep with lambs that the hyped up dogs ripped into, or worse still someones child? Don't say that could never happen - we all know that it has......
  22. FAO ZEK That big grey wiry dog is a deerhound. Iv'e seen him walking near where I live. Handsome big dog.
  23. My terrier ate the wooden legs of my kitchen table- had to buy a metal one after that!
  24. And the moral of the story.......Keep away from lions.
  25. I would say he looks as if he has a broken coat. You say he is a full bred JRT - do you mean pedigree as in registered with the Kennel Club?
