  1. I'm member of the Irish Native Bird Breeders Society for about 25 years & treasurer for the past Fifteen years. We have a membership of about 70 and run two shows every year, one in November which is our Young Stock show which generally has an entry of 200 birds & our main show in January which has an entry of close on 600 every year... Here's a few photo's....
  2. At this stage of the year I am four or five weeks into getting my canaries into breeding condition with the hope that they will go to nest in early or mid April depending on the weather. All winter long all they got was a good canary mix with greens a couple of times a week but since January I have been feeding them with sprouted seed, grated brocolli, grated carrot, a small amount of eggfood, spoonful of honey and a spoonful of wheat germ oil once a week increasing it every week until they breed when it will be up to four times weekly. I give them multi vits in the water onc
  3. Great to see old photo's now you have to give the details

  5. If you put mules or any bird out hanging in cages in the garden be mindful that a hawk may hit the cage Good luck with breeding a few mules.... My favourite is a nice siskin mule bred with a white hen canary (blue mule)....

  7. Yeah I saw this highlighted on a British bird forum, the more exposure it gets the better. it might save some some novice a lot of money never mind the grief when he fails to breed a mule from a cock bullie
  8. Looks like a clean & tidy set up, good luck with it for the future.

  16. I'd drink beer off a scabby leg but would not touch carlsberg, its rotten & gives you a banging head next morning.

  18. Came across this on the WWW. Interesting read..... http://www.archive.o...age/n5/mode/2up
  19. Great show http://nebbmhc.webs.com/
  20. The only drug I give my birds is a sulpha drug from the start of the moult until the end of the moult, I believe its neccessary particularly for greenfinches, otherwise a sick bird is given heat, maw seed , perilla seed some soaked seed and with goldfinches niger. Wild food fed in abundance is a great preventative when available.
  21. A lad in Scotland makes them by the name of Peter Jackson, he travels to most big shows in the UK, I try and get his number & pm it to you. He makes a good show cage....
  22. You need to give your birds a sulpha drug (Intradine) from the time they jump the nest until they are completely through the moult, the dosage is 5ml to 1 litre of water. Have a look at the article in the link below it was written by a well respected Birdman...... http://www.nativebirds.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=28&Itemid=28
  23. Is it a CBS show or an all British?
