  9. Tony you have hit the nail on the head there, never thought about that...
  10. We use locators with a bell attached so we can hear the ferret if it comes out of the burrow in heavy growth... Because we mainly ferret on ditches and some of them are heavy with briar's a rabbit can sneak out of a hole that's not netted but the sound of the bell lets us know....
  11. I bought a dozen of these nets at a game fair about three years ago and they did their job perfectly for two seasons but this season they had started to rot and when a rabbit hit them they just burst. After each outing they were hung out to dry before being put back in the bag so it wasn't that they got wet and were not dried out properly I just think that hemp is not long-lasting....

  15. That's Santa alright, my mentor he has fifty years of experience under his belt.... He has to wear oilskins out ferreting because of arthritis in the hips. the damp ground plays havoc with the condition....
  16. She is 8 years old now I got her at 2 months old the runt of the litter but she is one quick dog in heavy undergrowth, she is not much bigger than a big buck ferret.....

  21. It looks to me that maybe someone spotted you flying your bird and does not agree with field sports, knowing that what you are doing is 100% legal they have taken it into their own hands to intimidate you... You have done the right thing going to the police and placing your own sign to let them know you are no fool in the event that things escalate. Good luck to you, you have done nothing wrong.
  22. I am from Ireland and Ferreting is my favourite field sport, I do a bit of fly fishing as well... I also Breed/exhibit native birds.... I am looking forward to getting through all the topics on the forum... Cheers
