I personally think he's f****d up. Whatever he gains out of this, will lead to net losses imo. If they had gone from victory to victory and shown the world what they were capable of it would be a different story. This will weaken Russia's power and it will embolden, expand, and improve NATO. It may well even lead to the end of the Putin regime.

Tbh mate I can't see Ukraine agreeing to giving up a square inch, even in the face of annihilation. If it goes that way I think it'll essentially be decided by Russia and unofficially accepted by the international community until it is just part of history. The problem I see with just giving up those eastern contested regions is that they do not give Russia the 'buffer' they want between them and NATO. Even if Ukraine agreed to give those up, they would never agree to not entering NATO or at least essentially being massively armed by NATO as a security guarantee against future invasion, a

Ah, fair. I thought I was being innovative! See how long they can hold Kyiv, that'll be a key objective in deciding what is the end game. Either way, whatever is left of Ukrainian sovereignty, if anything, will be armed to f**k by the international community. If it's not a NATO member then it'll be a de facto NATO force.

I think he's stretching the truth a bit saying that experts said that column of armour was harmless. To me it's always been accepted as a bit of an impending threat. I mean, it's not exactly an example of Russian military excellence but equally I don't think many folks thought it wasn't going to become active when they were ready to assault Kyiv.

I met up with some lads I used to work with and they told me just before it all kicked off one of the most bizarre boffin engineers at my old place went to f***ing Moscow to meet some bird off the internet and hasn't been seen since! f**k me dead I pissed myself! I'm finding comparing this invasion with that of Iraq '03 quite interesting. On this point the coalition in '03 used special forces to hit the places they thought had such weapons. Of course vaporising them would've been more convenient way of backing up their WMD narrative wouldn't it....

Their UAVs have been building reputation and orders recently. The Turks have been playing both sides for some time now, a NATO member who is quite cosy with the Russians. So much so they got themselves kicked out of the F-35 programme leaving them with a lovely new aircraft carrier with absolutely no options for jets! As a consequence they seem to have doubled down on drones to make the most of it. I quite respect that.

Looks about right. But my point is that it’s only happened in the last 48 hours. It takes time to hit the pumps. The trading price is futures markets I think, not strictly what refineries are paying for it. And obvious there’s a time lag between buying the crude and selling fuel products.

Brent’s only dropped a little in the past day or so. The price has done nothing but sky rocket for months before then.

Lol, but how’s that relevant here? The post that provoked that mentioned nothing as to my views on taxation. Simply that the ‘tax the rich’ is absolutely prevalent in this country. Your response actually supports that statement.

I think there's a lot of truth in that. We're a country of "tax the billionaires!" so "sanction the oligarchs" isn't a hard sell! However, lol, there is legitimacy to it in as much as oligarchy is literally a form of government, like monarchy/democracy etc. The Russian oligarchs are part of the power structure governing Russia. Targeting them is equivalent to targeting Russian government. From a tactical point of view, if a group is to take down Putin from within, it'll probably be a member of the oligarchy or a member of the intelligence/military that leads it.

I'll tell ya summat, past couple days I've been working at a f***ing huge power station / gas terminal and I became very aware that this site was almost certainly a target for Putins warheads! For those two days I was quite pro-negotiate / help him invade the Russian province of Ukraine / give the Oligarchs as much money as they want!
