No but it does sound interesting. Unfortunately I don’t have the patience for many books and tend to just read stuff online on bits of history I’m interested in. If Russia do f**k this up then they will never be taken seriously again. Logistics problems on their own doorstep! Forget expeditionary warfare.

It’s difficult to tell but it really does sound like Russia is struggling, and with some really fundamental stuff, like taking enough f***ing diesel! They allegedly still haven’t achieved air supremacy with Ukrainian air defences degraded but still going. It sounds like everyone, including the pentagon, are surprised how bad Russia are doing. I said way back on here how interesting this potential war would be. A real test as to the relevance of armour in modern war. Short answer is it’s still not clear but Russia really haven’t achieved that much yet.

I’ve seen phone videos of drones being shot down, helicopters on fire crashing down, mechanised columns wrecked and abandoned, tank kills from NLAWs, stingers being let rip at jets (no kills), armoured fighting vehicles engaging each other. Not really looking hard either. No really intense fighting.

Part of me wonders if their plan A is to not trash the place, test Ukrainian resolve, make it clear there’s only one outcome and hope the white flags come out. But I genuinely believe everyone overestimates Russian capability. So, f**k knows. I’d love the Russians to jib.

This is genuinely very interesting. It’s giving the west/nato tons of intelligence on real Russian military capability. To beat western air defence systems they would have to launch dozens of missiles at each one to guarantee a kill. If the claims are true then Putin will have just shown the limits of what he could achieve. Which are underwhelming. Time will tell.

But do you have any sources? I couldn’t find anything. The problem I have with the Russian claim is that Estonia is pretty much as close to Moscow as Ukraine. But I believe that it was still a concern to them, just not really a major one.

Do you have any sources for this claim? Shooting down ballistic missiles isn’t that easy, lol. And in any case the primary weapon in the triad these days are subs. Their concern is the covert forward deployment of TLAMs in the Mk41 batteries. Just to be clear, do you actually believe that Russia has invaded Ukraine? Or aren’t you sure because of a lack of, what would be in your opinion, irrefutable evidence? Genuine question, nothing insinuated.

I was thinking similar but it’s a bit of a different game going to join the peshmerga to fight 30k fanatical Arabs in hiluxs vs facing the might of a resurgent Russia! Still sure some might go. Dunno if they’d be described as ‘boring’ but ex servicemen who just can’t stay away from war go. I’m not convinced they’re wired up right even though some of them have worked in some of the more elite professional units. I wonder if half of it is image for them.

The Russian side say they captured eighty odd Ukrainians who have agreed to give up and will be released. Ukraine claims 13 of theirs were killed. I believe the Ukrainian forces are overstating their victories but I also believe that this is totally inline with Russian RoEs.
