Be nice to meet up at some point in the future.

As I've tried to point out this debate is all about defining the terms you use, 'English', 'Ethnicity' etc. As such it's incredibly subjective, which to my mind at least is the cause of such argument. To me, ethnicity is more than just genetic heritage and makeup..... that's your race..... it's far more than that. Your ethnicity is sharing in common just about every aspect of your life with a group of whom you identify yourself with. That's not a 'black and white' definition.... which is the problem. Ethnicity is not just sharing a common gentic heritage but also cultural, religious, p

What he does in his shows doesn't particularly interest me at all, it's all a bit Hollywood. But the man has a few real and quite significant achievements to his name, serving with 21 SAS being one of them!

Personally speaking, I could certainly sit down and have a few pints while discussing the topic with you Charlie. Best place for such a in depth conversation.

I have altogether different problems with the philisophical conclusions about ethnicity from that hypothesis, but I'll save those for another day and another thread. LOL

so if I want to wear a muzzle and chase an electric hare does that make me a greyhound? I'd call that an identity crises, not some sort of transformation. The difference here is that I'm not sure 'English' is an ethnicity. According to CC's history the Englishmen of today, those at least that are the descendants of the Germanic immigrants (we'll just pretend that no integration has ever taken place for simplicity), share identical genetic heritage to all of the other Germanic people (from Europe) which makes us all of the same ethnicity. The only defining feature of the English is t

Thanks, as I said, we may differ on certain views but we share the same interest mate.

See, this is where it all goes to shit for me. How can we draw rigid lines between ethnic groups? They're blurred lines at best to my mind. If English is an ethnicity but we (the English) are solely the ancestors of Germanic invaders, does that not make us Germanic by ethnicity, as we share the same genetic heritage as the other Germanic peoples? Likewise with more recent immigrant invasions that retain their 1st generation genetic heritage, their ethnicity is for example African but they live and were born in England. Surely then they are no less defined as 'English' than the modern day proge

They found that while bullets traveling on a perfectly vertical trajectory tumble on the way down, creating turbulence that reduces terminal velocity below that which would kill, it was very difficult to fire a bullet in a near-ideal vertical trajectory. In practice, bullets were likely to remain spin-stabilized on a ballistic trajectory and fall at a potentially lethal terminal velocity. They also verified cases of actual deaths from falling bullets.

If you thought they partridge got up there you best come down on beaters day this season I'll put you under those on the drive we measured You'll give me a nervous tick with talk like that! I'll need councelling after such a drive I'm sure! I will have to come down and see them though. I bet they're something else when they come off of that 'mountain' side.

Put it this way, a 40gr lead slug ain't gonna hurt anybody really, it's not going to be the most pleasant experience in the world but neither is being shit on by a gull at the beach. That said, if a bullet drops on joe bloggs shoulder it WILL be in the press the following morning..... so just be sensible and save bringing shit on the shooting community.

I'm keeping my head down before I start having to produce differential equations that model projectile ballistics. We used to write MatLab programmes at Uni that did all that. Dan mate, my blathering might baffle you but your pheasants and partridge bloody baffle me! "You sure that's a partridge and not a f***ing commercial airliner mate?.... pass me the binos"

Babys and toddlers pull some epic deadpan faces. You can be all daft with them after not seeing them for a week and they'll just look at you like "... and who the f**k are you".

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/10931475/Pupils-to-dissect-animal-hearts-in-new-biology-A-level.html Great initiative imo. We need to encourage and nurture British born technical excellence and that starts in schools. I didn't really start anatomy and physiology lessons until I started hunting. How the hell kids can be considered educated in biology without seeing blood and guts first hand boggles my mind. It's just more left wing soft attitudes removing our mind from the realities of the world we live in, it boils my piss. Get it back in GCSE and not just A-Level!

Also, if it's any help, that 'extended stock' of Dan's is fooking massive so if that's under 1300mm every other gun in the country will be!

Congratulations! She looks far more presentable than I did on my graduation day. From what you have said before she's got a big future a head of her and she certainly sounds brave enough to take it.

Really? I've heard that said plenty and imo it's complete bollocks. A 40gr lead slug falling at it's terminal velocity... I find it hard to believe it would leave much more than a bloody bruise at most. This is documented in a shooting book written in the 40's or 50's (or even the 60's). I think the author was called Churchill or Christie. I am busy for the next few weeks, but I will try to find it after that and then corroborate or disprove it with other evidence. I apologise in advance if this is an incorrect fact, or if I have misremebered the calibre. I doubt you've mis

Did that racoon die from old age or something... it just rolled over? LOL Tbh I found it all quite comical. Just a couple folks that don't know any better.

I don't entirely get this "addiction is an illness so we must treat the sufferers like any other illness", yeah you might define it as an illness but so is noncing about with kids! Bottom line, there is shit you tollerate and shit you don't, no generic rule for everybody to live by. If you can tollerate such weakness in a person then that's fine and you don't have to justify it to anybody but yourself.

Don't forget the chin ups, press ups and burpees/b*stards. Body weight is free! Muscle up/Pull ups..... chin ups are for fannies!

Weatherby Vanguard Series 2
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I noticed in ST this week Sportsman Gun Centre is selling the S&B 8x56 Hungarian for £500 on offer. I'm half tempted to shell out for one now... Also doing the Zeiss Duralyt 3-12x50 for £600. -

Why not the B&C folks? Just because it's getting on for $300? The Boyds Featherweight in Pepper looks alright for $99. -
Well when I eventually get round to doing something similar I had intented to use threaded bar and epoxy and a bit of carefull drilling. That way all joins should be hidden. Are these gonna be electrical ones or candles? They look mint with rustic cast iron candle holders and big chains. Sell for decent money too!

Weatherby Vanguard Series 2
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yeah, I think the RC model is a complete sales gimmick for what it is. But if you could import the same stock for around £200 then maybe worth fitting that to a bog standard series 2? Still getting close to Remmy 700 or Tikka T3 money though like you say. Neither of those are out of the question. Swaro' do fixed mag 8x50 scopes but looks like hells own job sourcing one. Around the 700 mark, so reasonable for what I want I think. I'm just playing with options...
