  1. IMO the country prepared for a worst situation than we are in as a sensible precaution but we never quite got there as the lockdown/social distancing stuff had the desired effect. I'd optimistically say we have seen the worst of it and we'll see a continued downward trend, like Germany, Italy, Spain etc. How we get back to 'normality' and keep it down is the next challenge. See how we're peaking again at the moment? That looks to be the start of a downward trend of successive peaks. And before anyone says, yes this is official NHS deaths, not 'all' deaths but from what I've see
  2. f**k me, a pint of milk costs that these days! Tell em to make an effort!
  3. Again, I'm sorry for being so f***ing blunt. I'm sure if we were face to face we'd totally understand and agree with each other. You come across a bit cantankerous and blunt at times (to me at least) but you also come across as generally a sound sort. Like the majority of rural workers tbh, so I should've been more intelligent in that regard. That's me being plainly honest but hopefully respectful with you. Yes, totally understand. It annoys the f**k out of me not being able to get my hour or two of, frankly meditation, in my daily walk without constantly bumping into folks who before
  4. I didn't call you a c**t. I said you're being selfish. And you are, making out that being confined to the walls of ours homes is like having a day off work. I'd kill to be working on a farm 7 days a week right now rather than 8 hours behind a screen followed by the rest of the day in bed or in front of the TV. Getting to walk the footpaths of the countryside is the only thing keeping me and many other sane. This ain't much fun for anyone fella.
  5. Right, because I don't want to argue and I accept I'm less than perfect. I stand by what I said but equally perhaps it was a little personal the way I put it. I apolgise for that. It was the truth but saying it like that was only going to provoke conflict in hindsight. I don't have any time for being told I shouldn't be allowed to use the countryside within my rights. I understand many people abuse these rights and it makes rural work unnecessarily difficult and costly. I have and still do see this from both sides of the fence.
  6. He's being selfish. Telling everyone how hard his life is and how easy ours are.
  7. You didn't, neither did I. 'I' am part of 'people'. Get it? You want to stop people from being allowed to exercise within their legal rights in the countryside because it makes your life hard. I'm one of those people.... Okay
  8. Where did I say I do? You're the one that doesn't want me having access to the countryside. I didn't take you up on wanting me to not be allowed to run my dogs through your sheep.
  9. Don't feed me then! LOL. Sell your food to foreign customers and we'll buy from foreign producers. Who thinks they're the hero? I don't care why footpaths were invented, today we all have a right to use them to enjoy our country. The fact they're abused is not my fault and I shouldn't suffer because it makes your life hard. Dealing with it has been part and parcel of rural industry for decades.
  10. I accept that they own it but everyone has a right to enjoy it through permissive laws like footpaths etc.
  11. It's not a holiday fella, at least not if your life consists of more than Netflix/playstation/pornhub. Any farmer that wants me to keep out the countryside can get f****d. I'm as frustrated as anyone with all the townies wandering footpaths for the first time in their lives but the country ain't just for farmers.
  12. New guidelines issued by the chiefs of police to clarify 'lockdown' rules. https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-new-police-guidelines-on-reasonable-excuses-for-leaving-home-including-cooling-off-after-a-row-11974322
  13. The thing that I don't get is that I enjoy the management side of things as much as the shooting. Its really rewarding looking at what you have as a problem and figuring out short term and long term strategy to improve things while getting to do it all in the beauty of the outdoors. They're missing out in more ways than one.
  14. Shame, the gunclub system even puts the framework in for it to happen then. Just a total lack of direction.
  15. I walked away from nearly two thousand acres of free reign arable permission few months ago because I got sick of the agro on shoot days so maybe you have it right.
  16. Keepers and professional terriermen can open up tens of thousands of acres over here to a keen lad. It just requires a bit of commitment. Be a f***ing nightmare trying to do the same your side by the sounds of it.
  17. From a cost-benefit point of view you wouldn't really consider taking on any typical arable type permission under around 500 acres for a shoot. It just wouldn't be worth it unless it was somewhat unique and lent itself to the job.
  18. f***ing hell. It's nothing for a farm to go over a thousand acres here. Single fields go well over hundred acres. Lots smaller but it's not rare either.
  19. Fore the record @Greyman I thought your posts were very reasonable. But at some point someone claimed they were just kids and it seems to have stuck, lol.
  20. I love how it's just been declared that the accused are two youngsters who don't know any better. Not once has Jetro mentioned or indicated their age... Might well be kids but talk about jumping to conclusions
  21. I'm a bit more optimistic and like to view it as an evolution for the ancient tradition of humans sharing their experiences, stories and thoughts. There's a line somewhere between that and simple shallow vanity. It's powerful, being able to share what you do and who you are with others who are similar as well as your 'normal' social group. "Gayyy!" right?
  22. This place on a friday night would be a gold mine then!
