  1. Compromise.... Airburst railgun. Also battery powered so it'll go nice with the tesla. Like the H&H spec RR, for the technosexual.
  2. Ive a feeling that’s the first and last we’ll hear from the fella.
  3. He's a credit to hunting. You see the ranch hunt in Texas for that big Indian antelope thing? The difference between that and the mule deer hunt in Wyoming was 'night and day' to me. I know which I'd prefer.
  4. I’m five minutes in and they’re in Texas fishing.
  5. MEATEATER S9 just been released on Netflix! Fill ya boots!
  6. Dogging in on Tuesday before work. I didn’t kill a thing obviously but by f**k do I still enjoy it... its just another part of this lifestyle that adds to the greater fulfilment we strive for. The trophy shot is such a disservice to what it is about.
  7. That's sort of my point though mate, I'm not saying that we should limit our numbers, just not judge our sport by them. Your aim is to get as much enjoyment out of your rabbits as you can, if you get to 30 and aren't ready to end the night then get stuck in but if you get to 30 and think "f**k that was fun, I'll call it and do it again tomorrow! can't wait!" then great again. I couldn't give a f**k if anyone thinks I'm any good at anything, my aim is to be the happiest fella not the one with the most medals. Pretty sure dales rabbits are only worth like half the sport of a midlands rabbit
  8. Don't get me wrong, I want to be in the thick of it slaying stuff like some Greek mythological demigod! But I'm not pursuing numbers, I'm pursuing sport. The days that are burnt into my memory as special are rarely the biggest and there's a reason for that. I guess some people live for numbers but I'll never really understand it, I try to do as much different stuff as possible and keep things fresh. Numbers are usually a product of me having to rather than wanting to.
  9. I dunno about everyone else but I don't think I've ever seen a big bag and thought "wow they must be really good", I usually think "wow they've got some good land". I mean, no disrespect intended but you can only kill what's there and not all kills are equal in the sport they have provided. What I mean is, surely anyone that's done a bit knows that big numbers are a bit meh. Surely we all aspire for volume of sport, not just volume of dead things? Maybe I just get bored easy...
  10. If you can go out and hit triple figure then they probably need it. It doesn't mater what the rabbit meant to the country a thousand years ago, today it's an agricultural pest. Nationally the population has crashed, not because of rifles or nightvision but because of disease. Locally though they are still occurring in numbers to need controlling, evidently. Because of that national crash they seem to be fetching half decent money so of course there is outlets for them. I think 'trophy shots' alone do fieldsports a disservice but I hardly think significant numbers of lads are doing wh
  11. See this is what I mean about accuracy. As their database increases in size the results change. There's no dramatic changes (sudden appearance of far flung ethnicities) for me because all the ethnicities are pretty similar anyway so there's a lot of crossover which leads to error. The more data they get the more accurate the result, in theory. As you can see, I'm destined for Valhalla. Probably a descendant of Ragnar...
  12. Another wild west series, Hell on Wheels. About the building of the first transcontinental US railroad, with a lot of 'injuns', freed slaves, confederates and outlaws... Bloody good TV.
  13. Hindsight is always viewed with 20/20 vision.
  14. It's just way too risky in such a heavy civilian air traffic area for what was considered a negligeable threat. That's why they depend on fighters, they can go through stages of escalation before lethal force is used. They might have man portable SAMs these days or even something like patriot deployed but before it was just not justifiable. They were totally caught out.
  15. Truth is, it was no better protected against an air threat than anywhere else in the US. Every threat from the air would be defended against by air force or national guard fighters. I doubt even the bases had/have operational point defence systems. The threat was just not considered credible by the people in the positions to make those decisions! Yeah intelligence agencies knew stuff but pre 911 that network was very compartmentalized. The Pentagon would have had very considerable defences against espionage and ground forces... But an air attack.... nah. Today still probably nah. In fact,
  16. Yep, museum and memorial are both good. I didn't go up the new trade centre building but stood at the foot of it to feel the scale of it all. I hate cities really but NYC is a bit special. I think Accip put it perfectly, it has an 'energy'. London is similar, but different.
  17. Ground zero, well NYC generally, is a worthwhile place to visit. Try to get a feel for the magnitude of that event. I look forward to going again. It’s an iconic city in global culture and unfortunately 9/11 significantly contributed to that.
  18. Honestly, is there anything quite like being out rough shooting with a couple of mates, bringing in set-a-side and hedges to have a covey explode into the air from under someones feet chattering off, rip over a hedge in a string presenting perfectly for someone on the other side to have a quick snap with both barrels. All the stratospheric driven pheasants in the world can't touch those moments. If I was a rich man......
  19. Well this one would've failed even if he had released 10'000 of them! I'd attribute the wild stock to very low fox and badger numbers. A bird I have fond memories of and I suppose I may never get the opportunity to pursue ever again.
  20. There was always good few wild coveys where I used to be on the Lincs/Notts/Leic border. I honestly don't think releasing birds year after year made a cock of difference, other than providing a few more to shoot at that season. The 'keeper' wasn't worth a wank though so who knows.... Releasing birds is no substitute for predator control and land management with greys. I think you have the right idea.
  21. Sorry mate I haven't got past this page, did you release any in the end?
  22. Albeit it ain't totally clear but I didn't read that post and think, "yeah he wants a working terrier". Sounded to me like his sister wants another no hassle pet terrier.
