  2. "The cost of the full DMQ 1 coarse 2-3 DAYS at Barony collage is £250 this includes all paperwork and full training it also includes the tests on the final day." Anyone who is not fairly knowledgable about deer etc etc , Should remember that this is a HOME STUDY COURSE! You have to put in a fair bit of work at home before you attemp the test . 2 days in a classroom is not going to be enough . It would be fairer to say that its 2 days of going over the finer points and a bit of revision ,the rest you should have learnt beforehand .From the course handbook which should have been sent

  5. cut and paste quote ! "Where the approaches of BASC and DCS diverge is in the consideration of the delivery of demonstration of competence. BASC supports the voluntary approach and, to date, this has proven to be successful. So far, 12,500 individuals have attained DMQ Level 1 and 2,500 DMQ Level 2. We believe that endorsement of this voluntary approach by DCS would lead to even greater numbers of practitioners becoming qualified, thereby demonstrating competence. We also support DCS’s Best Practice initiative and feel that this complements the voluntary approach to DMQ qualifications. So

The deer hunting license can be purchased from the Department of Natural Resources & Environment and is valid for hunting all available species of deer. International visitors will also need to purchase an International Visitor Firearm Permit and a Customs Import Permit if they would like to bring their own firearms to hunt with." "It is a

  9. To be honest ! Your post sounded like a wind up to me ! Your other posts have mentioned pig hunting etc ,so you have been around hunting folk before . Yet you still wanted to know if deer have a drink at lunchtime ??????? Now you know all about pest species and native animals in your country ,and you ask a 95% uk forum about hunting Deer with a bow in Australia ?? Regardless of whatever country you happen to be in , If you want to hunt something and dont know its habits ? Then switch off your computer ,get off your RRs and spend some time LOOKING .

  18. What I did with mine was to blow the stop whistle every time he got in front of my legs. Then reach down and grab a handfull by the scruff of his neck and lift him up and back into the heal position and say HEAL !! Once he got the message it wasnt too bad. After that I used my stick like a pendulum in front of him sometimes . (If you start hitting his rrs with the stick too often he will work out the range of your arm and stay just outside your reach ! )You see that quite often on a shoot day when someones dog always stays just outside stick range !! I also use a " Hiss" sometimes as well
  19. "You play the game to the level you can afford " Whether its Roe stalking Car racing Golf etc etc etc We nearly all started off with rabbits or pigeons with a cheap shotgun. Then we went on to Rough shooting or wildfowling. Now we have big rifles and go after foxes and deer. As you climb the ladder we look for something different or something we haven't shot before . Maybe a woodcock ?or a greylag? We always remember our first of whatever it was . If you can afford it and you already have a couple of Gold medals hanging on the wall.Where do you go from there ? You go

  23. Unfortunately" WE". all live in a compensation culture society. Every time something goes wrong ,Its hands up in the air and shouting for heads to roll and expecting some-one to pay for it . Of course the Police and powers at be would like everyone to have a certificate! They could then say "We have done our bit and checked him out !Not our fault ". The buck stops here attitude, means that if you had an accident and F^^k up,Your on your OWN ! It also means that if your accident doesnt comply with best practise standards ,your insurance could well be void !! This is not ju
