There are collectors In Germany and Belgium who have never fired a shot but have magnificent collections of Roe heads!!! Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
-
Coronets are quite small and even though you cant see them, the pedicles dont look to have much girth either( narrow across the head). Young to middle age would be a decent guess on the whats in the picture? The problem with Roe is that they can look like allsorts depending on their circumstances??

This year I will be trying something new for me. I was loosing poults from the buzzards flying down the inside of the wire and taking birds against the wire. This year I will be taking some stock fencing ,and putting one bit above the other to make a six foot wall every twenty feet or so. It should allow the poults to run through but stop anything flying down the length of the pen.I plan on doing it on the feed ride as well ,but stagger it like a cycle gate so I can walk through when feeding. It may work ,It may not ? But at least it will feel as if I am doing something!

retreveing the bullet from the carcus? have you?

I used to have a box with at least 100 heads in it ! If you get on well with the guys who do the butchery in your local game dealer, and drop them in a six pack every now and then. Its amazing what comes your way! They collected allsorts from bullets to arrow heads and BB,s. They also gave me leg bones and shoulder blades with bullets still embedded in them, and others which had healed over the bullet! Its worth having a chat with them. -
Good morning guys, I am needing contact details for any Game farms within easy delivery distance of Aberdeen. Aprox numbers will be 41/2 to 5000, In two batches. Quality 8 week old birds at a fair price. Names and phone numbers on the thread would be handy to everyone. But If you would rather deal private then a P.M would be welcome. This is a genuine enquiry! Thanks, George

If there are plenty of deer about. Why do you need to lamp them to see them?? Dawn and dusk you will see them properly ???? Lamping deer just to look at them is asking for trouble.

Youre about as much good as a flat battery in an Ann summers shop!

I had one a few years ago and it was as good a dog as I,ve ever had! Lost it at 7 years old with Gloucoma.Missed it for ages.

I do mine before I start feeding...........Take the dogs while I am feeding.................then again after I have fed................. and any other time of day I have spare!. This late cropping has done me NO favours at all this year. They hit the tramlines and kept going! Now that its cut (most of it)I have them running and flying up the sides of the fields looking for the crop and cover that isnt there anymore!! B***dy nightmare !

Hi Guys, First of all the location is ABERDEENSHIRE! I am looking for any of the above for dogging in/ beating. Idealy it would be at about a year old and not over 3. Anything within striking distance of aberdeen will be considered. I dont mind paying a decent price but nothing stupid please. I do a lot of dogging in and something with a bit of leg about it would be fine ,(dont want a big lab with springer legs!) LOL Anything on the go just let me know and we can take it from there . Thank you George

Thanks Danw -
Has anyone tried the seed mixtures for holding birds? Just had a leaflet through the door and it looks quite interesting. 9 different seeds in the mix. It recommends feeding it two to one with wheat. Anyone used it?

I just dont see how netting a large pen can be practical? What size are the trees? How do you decide how high the net will be? and then do you have to cut off all the branches underneath it? How do the birds get in and out to learn the area? What happens when you lift the wire,do they roost above the net or go somewhere else to roost? A small pen maybe and then trickle them out a few at a time. Any chance of a picture to let us see what you mean? I am having trouble getting my head round netting a release pen of any decent size.
