  1. I like this bitch alot Cheers guys, she is a fantastic bitch. I couldnt of hoped for a better first lurcher, she just seems to know it all!! Plummer line?
  2. It did look like it was going to f**k him when he was down!
  3. :11: :11: that dog is more Plummer than anything with a dash of Nuttall . Its a nice stamp Hows it bred?
  4. Ran a bed/grey x whippet. Quick,game,agile-short on sense. Mated him to a working collie-sorted.
  5. think so mate looks like remlap max abit No offence, but you should know the lines if you are breeding them.
  6. Hats off to the dog AND the hare. Credit where its due.
  7. Puts silly squabbles on here into perspective. RIP-A TRUE HERO.
  8. I HAVE TWO BITCHES FROM THERE AND THEY WORK SO LETS NOT START SLAGGING THE BREED OFF AGAIN JUST BECAUSE OF ISSUES WITH THE BREEDER.HOW ABOUT SOME CONSTRUCTIVE DEBATE ABOUT WHAT A FAIR PRICE FOR A PUP WITH WORKING POTENTIAL IS AND HOW IT VARIES ACROSS THE BREEDS. Constructive debate + plummers- Admire your optimism.
  9. Surely the thread title should have given a clue about the fella-can you tell me what breed my dog is!? FFS.
  10. Got to agree re: glue boards-I would not use them. As for the poison-affects the nervous system and causes convulsions? WRONG. Anticoagulants, prevent blood clotting. Releasing live trapped rats? ILLEGAL.Trapping said rats in the first place? One word-NEOPHOBIA-an innate fear of new objects makes rats virtually impossible to trap effectively in numbers. Ill informed bullshit.
  11. Too right! Slipped my old 3/4 bred collie/grey on a massive stag some years back. She took off full tilt, pulled alongside, thought "f**k that",spun around without breaking stride and came back as quick as she went out! My mate and i just burst out laughing! Couldnt blame the old girl.
  12. I've run irish and brown. The brown has the edge imo. Irish are no pushover though.
  13. If the dog is retrieving TO HAND,which it sounds like, you've done the hardest part. Offer a reward, something he really likes,in exchange for the catch. As it leaves the hold on the rabbit to accept the reward, use a command-leave,give,whatever. It needs to be pleasurable to give up its catch to you-all the blowing in ears etc will not give the reward it needs. In fact it is more likely to make the dog reluctant to come to hand with a catch in the long run and is most likely to create the problem of circling you to avoid it. IT MUST BE PLEASURABLE FOR THE DOG.
  14. Ginsters has no relation to meat of any kind! Mashed puke in pastry. yummy.
  15. good dogs are born ,but its the work and how you go about it that makes them good or should i say better, you could give a world beater to a clown and he would ruin it,where you could give a average dog to a good dog man and he would push it to his full potential and further. Spot on.
  16. Good call. If you want guts, the Wheaton would give it. Cleanspades is a cracker too.
  17. They dont exist because you haven't seen one? I've never seen your dogs whin-that doesnt make them crap! Or because some hill keepers that you know dont use them? Hardly a valid argument whin.
  18. Good posts there Bosun and wirralman. I feel that the plummer will become primarily a show dog,if and when KC registration is achieved. None can deny that they are a very attractive terrier, and if thats what future owners will require then good luck to them. The fact is that at the moment there are plummers that do a good job at all tasks required of them, including ground work. The folks that do work them hard seem to seek out older lines, many of which were well proven earth dogs. They still exist, but the folk i know that have them do not need to compensate for small genitals by crowing ab
  19. Best get a f*****g shift on-its nearly tomorrow!
  20. Interesting reply. How should a handler be the focus for a dogs drive ? Cheers. the way i see it a pup dont know what he was born to do, but their all born with prey drive and its got to come out and in a lot of cases thats what get the dog into trouble i focus the pup on me as a way of using his drive from early, play tug , get him crazy bout a ball, all that stuff,,after a while pup will start bring stuff to you to play with but, this is the thing ,i always let the pup win in tug and never take a ball off him when he retrieves, all that bullshit bout not letting a dog win wh
