  2. Theres also no Stoats on Arran Scotland, or Foxes, plenty red deer, Seals, and three pairs of Golden Eagles. I should get a job presenting Springwatch. There are mink there though, once saw a bitch moving its young out of a stream bed in spate..........carried each one by the scruff of its neck.
  3. Really mate ? Well buggar me I thought it would take longer than that. I take it it's a longer process for catching in mist nets and handling adult birds then ? Regards Bell

  5. Interesting thread chaps. I will stick up some pics of my adventure to the west coast last year where I had a great time fishing 'the mono fly' in the salt. Had some nice mullet and a few of those silver things. Regards Bell
  6. It's a long time training isn't it mate ? Would love to have the spare time to do it but with busy lives its not going to happen......yet. Keep up the good work.
  7. Found a yellowhammers nest last year, the dog put it up. Was a right little egg thief in my youth......long time ago. Here's my garden list this year for nests. Mistle thrush, blue tit, dunnock, robin, pied wagtail, goldfinch, chaffinch, collared dove, wood pigeon, crow(can you believe it ! Shot the nest out twice !) blackbird. Pretty sure Chiffchaf and blackcap will have nested and one or two more. Going to put an owl box up next year and a communal tree sparrow box.......I am blessed.
  8. Got to be a Barn owl that pulls my string, love to see them about.
  9. Yes Phil 12 weeks now. She gets a bit of food at supper time when I put her in the kennel as well and it seems to be working for her.
  10. She is 100 percent better now. Encouraged her then knocked one of her feeds on the head. Down to 2 feeds a day and she is a different dog. Just a slow starter I'm guessing but pleased with her progress now. Worse than bloody kids they are !!!!!

  17. Food intake is the first thing effected by stress mainly in sensitive dogs , sensitive / nervy dogs get greatly disturbed when left in boarding kennels the first thing to go is the apatite because they are functioning on instinct which is fear based and if we pin point a place its in the head that means it is only eating at the minute when the pressure to eat from the gut overwhelms the fear based instinct in its head Put it this way you could take one of the dominant breeds Akita ,Rottweiler and take him out of his comfortable environment throw down a pot of food down and he will eat like a
  18. Cheers Phil, she was on weetabix on a morning but knocked it on the head last week. She's on Beeta puppy at the minute and will see how we go the next few days. If no progress will think about introducing a mince feed. Appreciate the input. Bell

  20. Yes WB, have already soaked the food but shes still not got much of an appetite for it. I guess it will involve putting in a bit more time with her and getting it right. Shes a lovely dog and never had this problem before.
  21. Bitch pup 10 week old. Out of a litter of 5, all others dogs. She is a skinny thing, a lot smaller than her siblings. Doesnt eat well. Giving her 3 meals a day but can turn her nose up and not bother without some encouragment from me to eat. Her mother is a thin dog but am comcerned shes not 'thriving' as her brothers obviously are. Has been wormed and had first jab. Am i flapping for no reason ? Bell
  22. None taken today. I penned the birds in today so they all had access to the nest boxes and all laid and no eggs eaten so I don't think it's the birds. I'll exclude them tomorrow and leave a couple of eggs in the nest box along with a 'little present' for whatever is visiting lol
  23. Old Gordie the picking pirate lol
