Has Salmond fatelly wounded the "yes" campaign, With assertion that "Scotland is a nation of drunks" ? The "no" campaign has jumped to an 11 point lead since he said it. I have some sympathy with his admiration of Putin, as Putin does put his country and people first, but Salmon should have realised it would be used against him, just as it was used against Farage. Like Farage, Salmond will face increasing attacks and smears from the "establishment" the nearer the vote gets.

Boris said this months ago, when he was asked if the The Hunting Act 2004 should be repealed. He made a joke about hunting urban foxes in London, rather than answering the question. The BBC is the televised wing of the Labour Party; the Guardian is the media wing of the Labour Party. We can do something about the Guardian; don't buy it ! I was in my local Tesco's getting my ratpack of half a dozen beers and a cooked chicken. As I was leaving, the Help For Hero's guys were collecting. I was wearing an old desert dpm shirt, so the lads got craicing with me. I was embarrassed by the fact I had no coin on me, I paid for my stuff by card; but was also embarresed that lads who had fought for this country had to stand in a supermarket to get donations for hero's !! I agree mate, I respect and admire the TA, they have done their bit in Tellic and Herric, with great bravery, but they are no replacement for regular, professional troops. To reduce the Army from 120000 to 80000 and hope to plug the gap with 30000 Reserves is madness.

The Military Covenant is being dismantled bit by bit; troops on active duty in a war being given their P45's, abyssmal aftercare for wounded or traumatised troops, pathetic family housing, that if it were a private landlord he would be prosocuted, reducing the manning levels to a dangerous point and hoping Reserves can make up the shortfall, and now trying to stop the cheap beer !! A Labour MP wants to stop subsidised beer for our troops serving overseas and make them pay "city bar prices"; a Tory Defence Minister agree's, they are both women, by the way !! No mention of the heavily taxpayer subsidised bars in the House of Commons or the House of Lords, where they drink the finest wines and spirits that troops taxes help to subsidise !!! They are taking the piss big time !! Well, when the troops get their postal votes for the General Election, they should remember this !! Thing is, Wilf,there were men shot for cowardice during the World Wars, who were obviously shell shocked and traumatised, and would now be diagnosed with PTSD; but you are right in some ways; PTSD is used by some to swing the lead and get compo and benifits whereas others who really DO have it, just get on with it, and has been said sometimes turn to drink, drugs and end up homeless. A sad state of affairs. The Military Covanent MUST be respected, and anyone injured, physically or mentally, MUST get the best possible treatment !

I find it strange that people complain about £200+ for a dog that will potentially give you 10 years of working, when a Pedigree, such as a Bulldog, will cost over £2000 and about 6 years of vet bills, before dying !! Even "designer" breeds, like Labradoodles, cost £750-£1000 !!!!
