    Tomo, I'm not absolving the police in this either ! Politicians and police swear allegiance to the Crown, and should be on the same side, but as this case was going on, the politicians, David Cameron and Theresa May, were busy tring to reduce policed pay, pensions, staffing levels etc, and the police unions turned against their historical freinds, the Tory Party, and yes, they may have used this case to put the boot in, but Mitchell gave them an open goal. If he is so stupid, what's he doing in a position of power, running the country ?

    Tomo, it wasn't a criminal investigation we are talking about. Mitchell sued the Sun for reporting what was said, as it would affect his political career. He instigated the court case, but was found against. He expected his pals in the establishment to back him up, but they didn't. They will throw their own to thE dogs if it is politically expedient to do so. He is finished politically, but don't worry about his future, it will already be sorted.

    This all revolves around a man, Mitchell , thinking he is above the rules. He verbally abused the police on the gates of Downing Street. He admits it, the only thing he denied was using the word " plebs ", as in political terms, it's OK to berate people but not to talk down to the "ordinary " people, as this is political suicide. He sued the Sun for reporting what he said and a court of law rejected his defence and have said he did use the politically toxic word.     In the libel case Mitchell v The Sun, the judge has ruled that Mitchell DID call the policeman "a f***ing pleb", so Mitchell has lost the case, and probably his political career, and costs against him are estimated as high as £3 million quid ! Being a snob is going to cost him a very lot of money !

    What about the doctors, nurses, engineers, scientist , etc, that we need from abroad. Your plan is to simplistic mate. We, at present make it difficult for these people to come in from the likes of Australia, Canada, US, India, Japan. Yet we have absolutely NO control over beggars, thiefs, and the dregs of Eastern Europe coming in, because of our membership of the EU. That's what needs to change, we need CONTROLLED immigration, not a complete ban.

    Joe, you say you look at facts, well the fact is Scotland is getting what the "vow" said, and more ! Control over income tax, vat, power to change electoral law, ability to make, change and set benifets, and more. You have got your cake AND will be able to eat it ! You will never be satisfied with less than full independence, but don't twist the facts to suit your own agenda, you sound like a politician. Scotland will have the best of both worlds, almost complete autonomy, yet with the security of being part of the UK.

    I've said it many times, ask a mainstream politician a question and you won't get a straight answer. Ask Farage a question and you will get a straight answer ! It may not be the answer you want, but it will be straight. When UKIP propose something and then realise it's not what the people want, they drop it.     I also watched the Sunday Politics, and I think Andrew Neil is the best by far political inteveiwer , however, I think Carswell came out of it far better than Shaps and Reeves. Why do you Scots hate UKIP ? They want the same basic thing as the SNP, fairness for the British people, although from different ends of the political spectrum. SNP want a socialist, top down government, with ever closer alliance to Europe, whereas UKIP want an independent nation, small government and the right to make and implement our own laws.     They both had massive majorities in their constituencies as Conservatives, so could have just sat there as Tories, but they resigned on principle and offered the voters the chance to have their say. The results proved them right.

    Basically because they have realised that Cameron is lying about renegotiating with the EU and the referendum, and they did the honourable thing by resigning and putting their fate in the hands of the voters. I have the greatest respect for Carswell and Reckless for putting their principles to the vote.
