  1. They are jackdaws mate , listen to their call ?
  2. Christ , the farmer needs to get someone to shoot them ???
  3. My God.....All I said was hunting is finished, and all you lot can come back with is abuse and insults ...no wonder the public are so against hunting. I know shooting is doomed too but at least I have had a lifetime of adventures. For your information I dont use thermal or nv and you havent a clue about shooting.......anyone can slip a lurcher , doesnt take any field craft ?
  4. My God, someone showing empathy. I am not a cat lover but imagine some little childs adored pet being ripped up ... hunting is finished , accept it . The way society has changed massively it has no place anymore in modern society.
  5. Not strictly true , I have seen rooks on their own and also flocks of crows.
  6. I'm now full of cold, coughing and sneezing all over but at least it's not Covid, lateral flow was negative .
  7. Too true Mr Sausage , it's all out war on corvids for me too seeing as we have Curlew , Lapwing and Grey Partridge. Magpies , crows and jackdaws get no reprieve. Jay's also to protect Song Thrush ,Bullfinch and dunnock.
  8. I never use my HMR, should really get out with it a bit more and see what I can do with it, but it needs a zeroing session 1st. Reading about that fox reminded me of 1 a few months ago where I shot a fox and then lamped some eyes in the rushes in front of me , like you I thought it was a hare but when I got closer, no rifle on me it turned out to be another fox stood looking at me at about 40 yds ? Just been out on 2 farms and not a fox to be seen , massive temperature difference compared to Friday night when it was freezing , tonight 11 c.
  9. Well done on shooting straight ? my favourite shooting is rough shooting, not knowing what you will flush ?
  10. 7 pheasants and a woodcock, bet he was well chuffed?
  11. I had number 31 last night. I tried a farm that I haven't shot a fox on all year , just nothing about. Last night was very still and frosty so I thought I would try some mating calls. On arrival I set up and started playing vixen mating call followed by hare and chicken with no joy. After 22 mins of calling I switched to dog fox mating call and had a vixen immediately show up and obligingly stop at around eighty yards . It was very frosty last night , my mod ended up with a covering of frost on it , driving home the temp hit -1c ....felt good to be alive.
  12. Tell him nowt mate , better off shooting them yourself ?
  13. Exactly mate , I like to see a lurcher run too , its not the dogs its the scumbag owners . Lazy twats driving the land with no respect and leaving animals lying about. In days goneby they would have been on and off the land with nobody knowing. I often have thoughts about offering lads out with the dogs out lamping but then I dont think there is anyone I would trust not to backtrack poaching so I just shoot them myself ?
  14. Must be some numbers , no wonder you get plagued by dog men.
  15. I can think of worse problems to have , I would love to do it believe me ?
  16. Wish it was like that round here , a lad once told me if you drive along the Whitby road theres loads at the side of the road.
  17. I knew there was Reds in N Yorks and they get to some size too.
  18. Fallow deer have palmated antlers with spellers coming off it , they have a brow tine and a bez tine. The term fishtail applies when the palm is split , from what I can tell of Stavs buck on camera it is palmated and not a fishtail but we will post a better pic of it when we catch up with him ??
  19. Did you catch up with it , looks like a red stag to me ?
