  1. I would vote for you to be PM mate , no pissing about just action ?
  2. There is no lake on the farm , just over the boundary is a quarry with some ponds in it. They come come over from there and graze his grass.
  3. True also but most of my ground it's easier to walk, horses for courses and all that plus I'm usually solo.
  4. Fantastic read and a very worthy adversary ?
  5. Vehicles are ok on some ground but not all , they cant get to places you can on foot sometimes. I do all my lamping on foot plus it keeps you fit and the weight off.
  6. Does anyone here have experience of controlling Canada geese under GL36 protection of livestock. I was asked yesterday by a farmer if I could control some geese as he lost a lot of lambs due to the ewes aborting through having campylobacter. I have researched this and goose droppings carry campylobacter so the sheep must have contracted it from the geese grazing in same fields. I think this covers me under GL36 as scaring them off doesnt work they just come back. Thoughts ?
  7. I shoot all my foxes prone , couldn't remember the last one I shot off my sticks. I always set up on raised ground where I can see a considerable distance in front of me and place out the caller. This works for me as we have hilly ground but I appreciate its not that easy on flat ground.
  8. Yep Propaganda is a very powerful tool , just look at how effective it was in WW2. I have spent most of my life trying to educate people about shooting and the countryside . Antis just wont listen at all but some people who aren't one way or the other will listen sometimes even though they still dont agree.
  9. I hope it stays like that too but the ground borders grouse moors where there are plenty. Just hope the dreaded VHD never arrives ????????????????
  10. Totally agree the countryside is not the same without the humble bunny hopping about. No worries about wiping them out on this ground , traditionally always had a healthy population.
  11. Haven't been ferretting for years now but have a few good spots to do this year. Might have to find a trustworthy Feretter this winter.
  12. Yeah I know but there was calves in the field too and a huge bull , I'm not that brave ?
  13. On checking the forecast I was relieved to see that there was a window between the thunderstorms of a few hours so decided to go and have a look for some rabbits. I had to dodge the showers a bit but not too bad. I initially headed to a bit of ground I haven't shot for over a year , got chased off 1 field by some frisky cows ( bovine variety ). Quite a few rabbits about so looking good but did get a couple with signs of myxy so hope it doesnt take hold. View from top of the hill....
  14. They should be on a general licence which gives landowners the opportunity to cull them if required , some will some wont but blanket protection is crazy.
  15. Look forward to seeing the Silver if you ever see it again ? Roe trophies are graded into Bronze , Silver and Gold depending on a measuring system which includes 9 categories weight , volume , length , inside span , colour, coronets , pearling , tine ends and regularity. Hard to assess on the hoof buta medal usually stands out. I have been fortunate to take 2 Silvers in my time but the elusive Gold has evaded me. Be nice to see it if you manage to grass it , rut not too far away will be a good time to find him ?
  16. Great result , did you get 3 bucks and a fox this morning?
  17. I prefer prone always when shooting foxes but use my twin sticks when shooting rabbits. Have just bought some quad sticks and only shot 1 roe off them so far , steady but a bit faffy to set up much easier with twin sticks but I will persevere with them.
