  1. She was a big heavy doe in fine fettle. Close shot at around 40 yds ?
  2. Well out stalking again this afternoon , this time on my mates ground ,socially distancing of course. The weather was nice again so knew we would see a few but didn't expect seeing 18 ? Anyway for one reason or another there was no safe shots until right on last knockings. This mature doe stood long enough on the edge of cover for a shot ?
  3. Much prefer a rough shoot to a formal driven shoot , I like nothing better than raking about the hedgerows not knowing what you will flush. What part of Northumberland were you shooting?
  4. With half an hour of daylight left and nothing showing I decided to check out the other side , just as I was stalking through the wood I got a glimpse of a roe sneaking out over the bank. I had a brilliant stalk on it as it was unsighted up a hedgerow. I eventually spotted it behind a tree and used this to my advantage stalking into around eighty yds. Set up on my quads and dropped it on the spot ?
  5. Received a text from a guy asking if I could get him a Roe , so as it was a glorious afternoon I popped out to see if I could get one ?. I set up waiting at a spot where I know there is 3 or 4 knocking about.
  6. Interesting reading. I have always used Winchester subs but think I am due a change due to them being louder. Just read a review on the Norma and the article was based on shooting a Ruger 77/22 which I have , the results were very good. Also surprised that they are cheaper than Winchester , Eley and RWS. I just need to source some.
  7. Yep Winchester subs , they do seem louder , some sounding like high velocity. Once these are used think might try Eley next ?
  8. Yes mate Ruger 77/22 .22lr. Even though it's a silenced .22 it sounded loud last night , think its because there was no wind and right out in the sticks. Couldn't use HMR there as it would wake the whole valley up ??
  9. £60 for a roe that's good going .
  10. Funny thing is I just spoke to my mate who was busy , turns out 3 of them went to this amazing piece of ground and shot 12 rabbits ???? so I had great pleasure in telling him should have come with me ??
  11. I carry them in my game bag , it's hard work . Have to keep making piles at gateways and a few trips back to car ??
  12. Well I eventually got the ok to have a look out on a new permission for some rabbits as the farmer now has his stock indoors. I invited my mate to come with his thermal and nv but said he was busy ? so on my own I went , his loss. How come people are desperate to go shooting and then when you invite them they say NO.... On arrival it was freezing and a slight breeze with a lot of rabbits about . These rabbits haven't seen a lamp so sat lovely but the ground was the wettest I think I have ever walked over , absolutely sodden. I squelched about making loads of noise so was picking rabbits off
  13. It's an old quarry full of Rudd. Not sure how deep it is but still able to feed the ducks round the edges.
  14. Just been up the shoot to feed our ducks , December cant come round quick enough so we can have a crack at them ????
  15. What a challenge tonight........windy and lamp shy rabbits but God loves a tryer ? I squelched around the soaking fields in search of conies . Not too bad considering the conditions but the rabbits are very shy now as it gets poached all the time. Think that's my last visit on these ones , the rest are breeding stock.
  16. You're right SL , celebrities will not risk their reputations being shattered by the gutter press.
  17. It's about time someone spoke up for the countryside instead of it being one sided all the time. Sit up and listen Kwis.
