  1. On to the 2nd farm , I set up facing a long wood and proceeded to play vixen mating call. A fox appeared at the edge of the wood some 250 yds away but hung up. I switched the call to gekkering with an immediate response , he came trotting in to around 100yds and shot him off the quads once again ? a nice big dog fox this time.
  2. After being stuck in the house all week due to fog and rain I was desperate to be out last night seeing as there was a break in the weather. 1st farm had 3 stands calling and saw nothing so headed back to the car which was parked next to a small field with a stream running through it and gorse and rushes. Had a last call here ,on switching the caller on with young rabbit immediately a fox came screaming in from my right behind a gorse Bush and stopped 45 yds away looking at the caller , vixen quickly dispatched ?
  3. Knew you would get him , his injury obviously wasnt affecting him , looks a chunky fella ?
  4. Makes you wonder how much actually gets shot by mistake using thermal , when a positive ID is mistaken.
  5. Ask yourself this then , if there is only 1 or 2 rabbits about why kill them and then moan there isn't any , better off travelling to where there are rabbits and leave the few to breed.
  6. I wouldn't I'd rather read / see posts about decent results as after all it is a hunting site.
  7. Felt like I was there mate , same thing happened to me months ago , a fox was screaming in but I needed to adjust my position and the quads fell apart like you , I managed to scramble to put them back together and shot the fox at about 30 yds ? Your mate f****d up on the munty ID but mistakes happen ?
  8. Exactly and it's the same old crew of oldies who never go out.
  9. As previously stated that is why I dont have thermal and nv , I lamp so that there are always lamp shy rabbits left to breed ? by definition big bags mean there are plenty rabbits , I am there to do a job controlling rabbits for the farmers and that is what I do but saying that I never wipe them out , get consistent numbers . Jealousy also plays a part as I'm sure everyone would like access to plenty of rabbits but I know that's not possible. RHD is the biggest threat to rabbits not shooting , ferretting or lurchers. We used to control rabbits in the Scottish Borders by shooting and ferretting
  10. I'm out for numbers as farmers want to see a big reduction in numbers but I always leave plenty to breed . That is why I lamp and dont have thermal or nv , I want some sport left for future years ?
  11. Thank God for a decent reply rather than abuse ? hit the nail on the head each to their own. I used to love ferretting, haven't been out for years now and also like watching a lurcher that knows its job.?
  12. Dont make videos too busy shooting....but here's a few rabbits for you.
  13. I have never been ferretting and only caught 1 rabbit. Worst day ever I think was about 6 and that was pissing about local, we used to aim for a minimum of around 40.
  14. No problem with going out but if you are going to make a video make sure it's worth watching I.e catch a few ?
  15. Not worth going out for 1 rabbit ??? definitely not worth filming ?
