  1. We are lucky that we have a few coveys on our place , lovely to see. I know a lot dont shoot them but it doesn't harm to take the odd one ?
  2. Well decent weather today for a change , but we only had 5 guns and 2 beaters. So we mainly walked and did as best we could. Lots of birds flushed that weren't shot at as we were so thinly spread. I had a decent drive on the quarry shooting 5 ducks and a partridge ? Still plenty birds for Boxing Day just hope we have a few more guns .
  3. I wouldn't hold your breath mate the way its going. National lockdown after Christmas so that's the rest of the season knackered. 2021 will continue like 2020 I suspect. It will take a long time to get everyone vaccinated before things will improve.
  4. Aye we're shooting tomorrow and Boxing day then it just depends on lockdowns. 2021 is going to be dire too I think , dont think we will bother releasing birds next year.
  5. Or free to a good home just to get rid ?
  6. +1 cant see why not after all domestic geese are just descendants of greylags.
  7. No mate that was a National Trust site where the new manager replaced me with his son ? This is just a farm I have shot for nearly 30 years now ?
  8. Popped out on the squirrels again to the same farm as the other day as saw a few I didnt get. I was hoping for 3 or 4 so was well chuffed with 9 and a bonus pheasant ? Still saw a few more so another trip will be on the cards ?
  9. Wrong way round mate , they are browsers ?
  10. You're right Stav , once all the idiots have finished with their Christmas spreading of the virus we will go back into lockdown in January and that's the season over ?
  11. I had a look out last night to a sheep farm that I've only been to once this year and normal service was resumed , saw nothing ?
  12. What a fantastic day you had , I too would much prefer a day like that than a driven day. ?
  13. The hunt around us are probably the worst in the country , couldn't catch cold. Most farmers are not on their side and would rather the foxes be shot , saving damaged fences , churned up fields etc.....
  14. I use 32g 6s too , but your kills looked very clean , maybe just good shooting ?
  15. RHD does far more damage than any rifleman ?
  16. Great shooting Dave , some cracking kills. What cartridges are you using ?
  17. Popped out this afternoon to try for squirrels as I've only had 3 this year ? There was a few out today and I shot really well , taking 3 at a good 50 yds ? I then shot a few woodies coming in to roost , very testing in the wind. On dusk heading back to the car a cracking cock pheasant lifted , a good 50 yard crosser , swung right through and folded it , made my day. On coming to the edge of this field there was a big splash after all the rain we've had and 2 mallard lifted so I stood by a tree and slipped in steel cartridges hoping some more might flight in. My lucky day as 2 came in and I dr
  18. I hope it's right , sick to death of rain and fog...
  19. Not up North, justed checked and ok most of the week ?
  20. Sounds great , are you just having a walked up day ? My kind of day that ?Only had a chance at a right and left woodcock once , folded 1st bird and 2nd bird was in the bag except I had a misfire.....can you believe it ? good luck and may the woodcock gods be shining on you.
