    Cheers for the comments.... Yes I still have my D700 MacTut. but its resigned to the bag at the moment..Working totally with the D300 just now, but yes it can back fire on you, especially when the light goes and your needing high iso`s. .

    Spot on matie, I knew Miss Noble, spoke to her numerous times at deerhound coursing, got beat in one final by one of her favourite hounds Ardkinglas Ace, I quized her a lot about putting the greyhound back in, but she thought I was asking to write an artical about it and clamped up... A Study of the Deerhound pedigreees shows something most of you will know, a Greyhound was added into the Deerhound gene pool by Miss Noble back in the late 50's.     I wrote an article in the CW years ago inviting people to come up and lamp with us, we had many many offers as you can imagine, one guy with a pure bred whippet that had to be carried off the land I can remember..only one lads dog did the business, well, she did get into the 20`s but looked the part when running, the lad wanted to go home about 2am, while we wanted to lamp on permission till 2am, then into the lions den till breaking light.but it was good to see lads from other areas, see their dogs and hear their crack...

    Yes we have a hide set up to get her..it took me nearly 70 hours to get my first shots of her,and Ive sat for hours many times since.. Yes Millet theyre like blue flashes going past arnt they? Between Amble and Warkworth there is a one there nearly every day,up from the wear, on a post that the cormorants are usually on..Ive been putting a branch closer in and have seen it use this once up to now..the harder the weather gets the more it will be there..

    Easiest hares Ive seen killed was in the daylight at the corn cuttings, I knew guys how had shit dogs and the only time they brought them out was for the cuttings, Ive lamped hares since lamping had its blue touch paper lit, seen hares on the lamp that NO dog would ever catch, seen hares that were picked out the seat, hares are a mixture of brilliance and stupidity when being chased by a dog. Ive seen some of the best coursing stock from where I live struggling to kill a hare up here on the lamp, then the same dogs come back from the Fens with tales of killing 5 out of 5 in the daytime.. S

    Every pup I have had that had a litter were different, but I would be giving at least a month after the pups were off her, my dad used to drum it into me a month, but a week for every pup over the four weeks, so if a litter of eight, eight weeks befpre serious work again....when I was young I had a bitch called Bes, this was the best all round lurcher bitch Ive ever had or seen, she had a litter, and I took no notice of my dad and began working her too early, she ran like a bag of shit..I had old lurchermens words ringing in my head, "bitches never run properly again after a litter of pups" I

    Had a bitch 8 years old kill rabbits in one night..but she was probably in her prime at 4, and I ran her till she was 12

    Had some rousing nights on hares with the lamp, what other way can you race and catch double figures of hares with the right dogs
