  1. Ahhh Wooler, we called it the promised land in the 70`s.... I was 46 when I got my first permission, and in the first year I got 12 farms to work my dogs, ferrets and nets on..
  2. Yeah Know what you mean, and some of the older stuff is still really good, I had a Fuji S2pro and I have had nothing, of have seen nothing Nikon or canon that could match that oldie for colours....one of my main regrets is ever selling it..but must admit its great now to have a camera that has a battery that lasts 2 or 3 outings...
  3. When I was young the thought of running my lurchers on plough frightened me, then, realised how f*****g easy it is for them, hard or solf, slipped them half a field away at times, and most times still got them..NEVER had a dog get an injury running on plough but caught loads and loads of hares and rabbits on plough..I like a dog that kills quick, so I found that vid quite boring, and at times frustrating..
  4. Never been a one for a bit bully in any form or guise, but talking in numbers laways gives me a twitch....Canny going Moll, well done
  5. Good images matie, and good to see another Nikon user on here
  6. I only ever worked bitches of this breeding I usually enter them between 30-40 weeks, and begin to graft them propper at around 42-44 weeks on rabbits, Ive had them killing at 6 month though rabbits, This bitch is the best all rounder of this breeding Ive seen in the last 30years The black one below is her grand daughter (not as good an all rounder, but killed more rabbits) and the black and tan is her great grand daughter The blue is another great grand daughter
  7. Ive always worked bitches in season, seen no noticeable difference with the ones Ive ran, but just before they break down they usually take off..
  8. If they never took fox, that would be possibly down to their entering or poor breeding, compared to a purpose bred hare dog the vast majority of rough coated lurchers will come second. The Deerhound-Grey/Collie-Grey was bred as an allrounder,to fulfill a multitude of tasks, something the right ones excelled at,as a fox and venison dog,in the past, they more than held their own and on the heavier, rougher terrain had few equals. As in all other lurchers its usually poor training and entering that results in dogs not attaining their true potential. Spot on matie, and probably the best all rounders
  9. Nice one undi..love the first one above
  10. Cheers matie, if you look through the back windows you can make out the original orange paint..hand painted it when I got to work, was dry before the end of my shift, went black after that..but, dark green hides better than black at night.. Went out longnetting in motorbike and side car, not with dogs though

  15. Yeahh coal tit, did a bit ringing with the BTO a few years back and I hated getting these little feckers in the mist nets, their feet are sooooooo bigggggggg, always took ages to get them out the net, Ive seen quite a lot,at certain times of the year with more blue in the colour of their legs, maybe on this one it was more to do with the way the light was coming in on the pic..but wasnt doing to bother desaturating the colur of the legs, rest seem ok on my monitor.. Its amazing how much they look like a bird over here called Chickadee Looks very similar Paul..checked the latin name
