  1. well spotted - they get renewed each year and as government agencies change the documents get moved around the web. This is the 2007 variation (i.e. added new traps) http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2007/uksi_20072708_en_1 This is the 1995 original basis of the order (i.e. all the traps originally included and still on) http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1995/Uksi_19952427_en_2.htm
  2. Apparently yes, although I have never tried it http://www.agfc.com/pdfs/free/liverabbittrap_bro.pdf
  3. There is loads on here if you take a little time to look for it http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...st&p=867542 http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=49799 http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...howtopic=118369
  4. ellir0305 asked that earlier as well and I have to be honest I don't know. I have never seen a larger one designed for rats and you'd have thought someone would have tried it by now. That makes me think that maybe they're too damn clever but you never know.
  5. Yes please do. From how you describe it I imagine it could probably be a bit like this then ? This trap was sold to me as an Irish made Sparrow Trap (but I'll wait to be set straight by OTC though )
  6. No not all - the details are all here This isn't a new idea, traps like this have been used for hundreds of years in one form or another. There are even commercials ones like it on ebay from Australia.
  7. This one was a prototype Steve, so the mesh at one end was only tacked on loosely. The final design will have the choice of a sliding or hinged door at the end. I don't suppose you could get photos of that could you ? Sounds interesting
  8. yes Gary, that's right. One of these http://www.killgerm.com/product-group.php?group=829
  9. A few of you may remember a simple funnel mouse trap that FISH made and posted on this forum. Well I thought I'd have a go at working out a Step by Step plan for it to maybe go in the next book. FISH kindly gave me the basic dimensions that he'd found to work and I knocked this up my own version of it shown here. I've had it out on test for a few nights with my Killgerm infrared motion camera and last night I had a result - click on the images below to view the videos. Having a good look round In he goes Safely caught And
  10. well done Phil - satisfying isn't it

  12. No not yet. I'm not even sure if it's legal. Got a tidy grip on it though and there's a bit of give in the mesh sides so it' a good snug hold.
  13. I use this one from Killgerm http://www.killgerm.com/product-group.php?group=829 This is some footage shot from it in the middle of the night - a mouse on a birdfeeder I had in the shed.
  14. You don't see many of these about, but it's a FENN Clap Trap. Placed on the ground over a rabbit run it's a live catch trap. |The rabbits treads on the treadle and releases the spring loaded sides. This is it set
  15. I have got hold of a pair of quite old wooden pigeon decoys. I think they are lofting decoys as they have an 'eye' on top to hang them from and a vane underneath. For wind or counterbalance, I'm not sure. They might be home made but they're fairly uniform so I can't tell. Can anyone identify them as a particular make ? Is there a collectors community for these sort of things ?
  16. I was recently contacted by Michael Roberts who writes and publishes the Gold Cockerel series of books on poultry keeping, waterfowl and other aspects of small holding. Many of you will be familiar with his book Modern Vermin Control and Michael wrote to tell me that the 5th edition of this book now includes a plan for a tree mounted fenn trap box. Unlike the ones we all saw on the TV earlier this year, this design still has the squirrel approaching the trap horizontally so to all intent and purpose working as designed. Shown here as if mounted on a tree. In simple terms th
  17. I like your 'T' shaped one particularly. I'm guessing that the 'push past' door is long enough and at a shallow enough angle that they are stood on it while they're trying to open it. The wooden catch is good too - nothing revolutionary but looks neat and effective. 'WIFE' on here is one for experimenting making squirrel cages from different materials and designs. have a look at this topic too http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=49799
  18. Me too, so sorry I'm a bit late Happy Birthday Lee
  19. Yes indeed, which is why I raised a concern about that particular trap. I think the design is a great idea but just make sure the central cage is big enough for the bird and for a perch, food and water. The General Licences for ENGLAND (For example WML-GEN-08) have the following footnote. Under section 8 of the Act, it is an offence for any person to keep or confine any bird whatever in any cage or other receptacle which is not sufficient in height, length or breadth to permit the bird to stretch its wings freely. I'm note sure what the equivalent legislation is for Ireland. A
  20. Would it be this one ? I'd be a bit concerned about the size of that call bird compartment but it's hard to tell from the photo. http://www.solwayfeeders.com/ProductsDetai...STOCK_CODE=1399
  21. As you know I am particularly interested in trap construction and I asked Cornishtrapper for a few more details of his ground funnel trap. These are his pictures
