  1. Great advice as useual and I'm really big on the Super Glue!! What I'm going to sugest is a bit of an arse about face way of teaching someone to shoot but here goes.... If the lad's gun shy and a lot of folks are to begin with, maybe if he learned the basics with a PCP or Co2 gun instead, it could well be the way to go. He'll get a handle on the basics without flinching, closeing his eyes and generally shitting himself 'cos of a little recoil and a bit of a bang..... Super Sports aren't the nicest of springers at the best of times, they're twangy, have crap triggers and do recoil
  2. Is it a Google mail address by any chance?? Some forums won't accept those 'cos it hides the I.P. so I'm told. Best of luck with the search and good on you for useing a bit of nouse It never hurts to ask.
  3. Brilliant!!!! Best laugh I've had for ages!!!! I don't get out much these days though....
  4. Do a post on them if they are different, with pics, I would be interested in the differences too I will do that, mate I didn't have a camera with me when I did Simon's 77 but I'll make sure I have it when I do these two on Thursday, all being well...
  5. Thanks, Rob I don't know for sure if I can make it down yet, business is feckin' shite at the moment and it'll be a last minute thing but if you've got some and would bring a tin with you, I'll have them. Hope to see you again, mate and well done on your gear, there's some really cracking looking stuff you've got there. Proper quality Cheers.
  6. Mine too!!!! Edit to add.... I've two 's to service this week and one is fairly new so it'll be interesting to see what's inside....
  7. I had a problem with it too. I had to refresh the page a couple of times before it would show Nicely done, Si. Looks like a cracking spot too, mate!!
  8. That's pretty much what this one was like, mate. You could even see the heat discolouration on the steel... I used to fix airguns for a living many moons ago, I'd heard of this practice before but it's the first time I've come across one myself. I hope it's the last. Cheers.
  9. Hi, Tony. Do Hull Cartridge do the work?? I always assumed they were done at the factory Whoever did it wants a slap on the wrist though..... and whoever decided that this was an acceptable practice wants sacking. Cheers.
  10. Interesting bit of footage Sparrows and starlings used to be classed as pests in the UK too until recent years, so I guess they are a non welcome species to the Yanks in the same way that grey squirrels are to us Cheers.
  11. Nicely done and great work with the springer, mate
  12. I'm not going to get involved on someone else's debate Mark but that last line made me giggle!!!
  13. Yup. That's why I'd stripped it down, lube the thing up properly and sort any rough edges but as it turned out, this 77 was very well finished off inside and only a re-lube was needed.
  14. Hi, mate. There's a cracking bit of free software you can down load called chairgun pro. It's not perfect but with a little time put in to set it up, it's very close. Dead easy to use too Cheers.
  15. Women....... Are they really worth the effort....?? There we were, all chilled and sorted, happily playing with our Scalextrics or whatever then our hormones kick in and we spend the rest of our lives being led around by our dicks chaseing some screwed up nutter who will never really understand us nor us them They're all MAD!!!!! I tell ya!!!!!!!!! Nice shooting, BTW
  16. Yep, it's a fair cop, Mike What they've done won't really have a detrimental affect on the rifle but it's still a gash way of doing things however you look at it I hope as Shepp's said that it's been sorted by now but I've got to say it should never have happened in the first place... Cheers.
  17. I guess that'll be an HMR in the bag then?? Just break the ice with them, mate and see how it goes Softly, softly, catchy monkey....
  18. The point of impact will change more often than not when you change ammo, mate, even with pellets of around the same weight. You'll nearly always have to re-zero your scope after a pellet swap. It's how they group that's important. Give them another go and see what the accuracy's like If they don't group well from your gun then try something else. Good luck!! Cheers.
  19. Sounds like you share a common interest in shooting with some of them then Just have a chat with them first, try dropping guns and shooting in to the conversation and see how it goes. Just don't be pushy and sound them out. Best of luck, mate!! Cheers.
  20. Hi, folks. I was doing a bit of work today on a mate's HW77. The guns fairly new and has never been stripped before. When I took the spring out of the action I saw the front end had been cut down and not re-finished properly I can only assume that's been done at the factory presumeably for the lower powered UK spec guns... They never used to be like this and I'm shocked that a company of HW's standing have cut corners like this Cheers......
  21. 10.5 grain pellets are ok to use in a 177 the problem arises when you fire 21grains + from a 12fpe gun.I found that 8.5 JSB's were as hard hitting as most other pellets from a springer.Crosman Premiers and Bisley magnum (H&N Baracuda)are the most accurate heavweights. The crossman pellets are the ones in the cardboard boxes mind not the tins. There is a difference and it shows in the balistic efficiency of the real premiers. Some 177 springers need to be retuned to stay at 11+fpe with heavy pellets, just make sure you keep on the legal side if you do this.As when you go back to light pellets y
  22. Give it a go, mate, you'll never know otherwise!!
  23. I've heard that too, mate and I've no idea where it came from but it's crap. My 90 shot very well with Baracudas when it had it's .177 barrel but in general springers don't shoot so good with heavy pellet as the power tends to drop off as the weight goes up, not such a problem with .177 though. Cheers.
  24. I agree, mate but it's more down to folks attitudes than it is to do with the law. I for one would have no problem at all with some kind of licencing for airguns but I feel it would be an impossible law to impliment. Only the legitimate users would apply for the licence and the idiots would continue to beak the laws anyway....
  25. You've a good point, Ideation but making something more illegal than it already is won't really change anything, will it? Did murdering someone with a hand gun become any more wrong after they were banned? No it didn't... The two muppets in the OP's first post were already on the wrong side of the law and as I put in my earlier reply, it's by no means exclusive to airguns by a long way. All the legislation in the world won't stop someone if they're that way out. Also as you've said in your reply regarding SGC and FAC applications, plod only look so far in to the applicant's history whi
